• Competitor rules

Please remember that any mention of competitors, hinting at competitors or offering to provide details of competitors will result in an account suspension. The full rules can be found under the 'Terms and Rules' link in the bottom right corner of your screen. Just don't mention competitors in any way, shape or form and you'll be OK.

probs stupid question, but

Nvidia ones do, ATi ones don't, they just have to be from the same series, i.e any 48 series cards can be paired with any other 48 series cards.

It takes 2 slots.

Less expandability in the future (as in, no 'quadfire' ever as both your slots are used)

Louder as more fans.

More cables in computer.

Very very marginally slower (like - 1%)

Crossfire will only work as fast as the slower of the two cards if they are different speeds (as in -- it'll slow down the faster card .. not be really clever and get the faster card to render more of the screen or anything)

However if there is am difference in gRAM then the larger one will not utilise any ram above that of the lesser one. (e.g. a 512 Mb card and a 1 Gb card in xfire, the 1 Gb card will only use 512 Mb of it's memory.)

Also the occasional game comes alone which doesn't like multi-GPU setups and new drivers have to be released. Also (generally) costs more on your power bill I believe, and could require a new/more expensive PSU. Other than that I think britboy hit the nail on the head.
