Processor Speed Fluctuations

How do I stop the processor jumping around in terms of speed.

i5 3750k + MSI Z77 board.

its perfectly normal, its a power saving feature.. the motherboard downclocks cpu to save on power and heat... untill you open a program that needs more cpu power then it will go ramp up the power.

Is that whats doing it, the multiplier thing.

Will it not effect game performance if it keeps jumping up and down in games ?

Don't do this. It gives no benefit to gaming performance (as CPU speed will increase on demand), and will just add to your electricity bill.

Just leave it on, no it never will effect your gaming or anything else.

Leave speed step on. If you dont want the CPU to downclock enable the High perf power plan.
