What is the max proceesor i can put on this board will it take these

Intel Pentium Dual-Core E6700 "LGA775 Core 2" 3.20GHz (1066FSB) - Retail

Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 LGA775 'Wolfdale' 3.00GHz (1333FSB) - Retail

Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 LGA775 'Wolfdale' 3.00GHz (1333FSB) - Retail

Intel Core 2 Quad Q8400 LGA775 'Yorkfield' 2.66GHz 4MB-cache (1333FSB) Processor - Retail

Which one value for money will i notice most improvement cheers

If this list is for the correct motherboard - then it looks like that motherboard is limited to 65nm Core 2 Duo CPUs.

The X6800 is the best chip you can put in it - but realistically there are not many of these and they will most likely be overpriced. Instead the Core 2 Duo E6700 (2.66Ghz) seems to be the best upgrade available. Unfortunately 45nm Pentium Dual Core CPUs like the PDC E6700 (3.2GHz) don't look like they will work.

Overclokers is showing 3.20Ghz for that processor mentioned

Intel Pentium Dual-Core E6700 "LGA775 Core 2" 3.20GHz (1066FSB) - Retail

Dual Core Technology, 3.20GHz clock speed, 2MB L2 Cache, Intel Speedstep Technology, EM64T 64-Bit Technology, Execute Disable Bit. 3yr Warranty.

Aye, there are actually two CPUs with that the code (E6700).

One is an older Core 2 Duo 65nm CPU clocked at 2.66GHz with a conroe core.

The newer one which is on OCUK is a Pentium Dual Core 45nm CPU clocked at 3.2GHz with a wolfdale core.

The older one is the CPU that works in that board. The newer pentium dual core will not.

If you want a noticable boost in CPU power for a relatively small outlay - you may want to consider upgrading the CPU and the motherboard instead of just the CPU. This DDR2/DDR3 AMD motherboard is a good bit of kit, and with a Phenom II X4 CPU like this you will see a big performance jump.
