Productive things to do on a commute

I don't understand why anyone listens to a radio (unless you share work car), so people actually like the trash on there, especially the breakfast shows they are just so irritating.
There's more to radio than just music. :)

So true. Radio 4 and 4 extra are superb. I'm Sorry I Haven't A Clue, I'm Sorry I'll Read That Again, The News Quiz, The Now Show, John Finnemore's Souvenir Programme, The Goons, Dilemma, Cabin Pressure... Amongst many others.

Podcasts, audiobooks (I partridge is amazing as Partridge reads it) and play zelda on nintendo switch. You could burn 100 hours on zelda. If the train has a loo you could also do some poohs / me time.
I Partridge is very good. I recently enjoyed the first Gervais, Merchant and Pilkington podcast from 2006 (I think?) and both had me laughing out loud in public.

Some poohs / me time is the best band name to never exist

each to their own, its garbage.

I love all the gervais topic ones with Karl too they're ace.

I'm definitely bad enough at the bass to be in that band (I only ever had one gig and walked too far away from the amp and my lead came out giving me a rush of confidence, with nobody able to hear me I gave it some splap).

Years since I commuted (the Northampton loco hauled Cobblers) but a few of the things to amuse yourself...
Read a book - remember the first time I read Tom Sharpe's The Throwback, I was in stitches whole carriage looking at me.
If there was more than one of us around a table, play backgammon or (non-gambling) card school.
Doss.
Sweepstake on where/when you'd see the blue flash from the loco, grind to a halt (usually around Cheddington) and eventually see the assisting engine to be pass on the slow line then about 20 minutes later the "clunk" as it came in wrong line on the front of the train.

I have a 4-6 hour commute each day depending on traffic, I hate it. All I do now is reply to work emails, watch videos, listen to music, come up with a cunning plan to take over the world - y'know, usual stuff.

Badly. I live in Kent, I work in London. I get the coach to work, train is there but almost 7k. Coach is almost 3k. On a good day, 2 hours each way. If there's any hint of trouble on the M25/A2/Blackwall tunnel or in London, game over. Done it for 7 years now, soul is almost destroyed as a result :)

Oh my.. where in kent? You are a warrior to be doing that for 7 years.

I commute on train every day 30mins each way. I've read 'The Girl On The Train' and i listen to Spotify on my phone. I need another book.

I was always tempted by the commuter coach to canary wharf when I worked there, but the blackwall tunnel is a bitch.

You must be far along the east of Kent as it shouldn't take much more than an hour to get into London by train.
