Professional CD Labelling

Have you considered 'Lightscribe' for etching onto special CDs and DVDs. Last year I filmed a school play and edited the video down, I created the video and burnt it to DVD, I used 'Lightscribe' discs, you will need a special drive, but all you do is flip the disc over in the drive, and once you have created you design you can burn it onto the label side of the disk, You need to be quite bold with you designs so they stand out, but I can say that it'is well worth the effort.

Have a look here for more info:

If you have a HP desktop or Laptop you may find the drive already supports 'Lightscribe'

Takes to long to do that, tried it never used again.

Thanks for all the input gentlemen. Its likely we'll be using a proper printing service now because its cheaper than we thought.

Can anyone recommend a decent program for designing the artwork/label to go on the disc?

There's always Photoshop but a bit expensive if you haven't got it already.

Avery Design Pro is cheap and very good if you wanted to print your own labels.

No, not printing my own labels. I have photoshop (V6 i think) but never used it and I'm struggling to achieve anything with it. I'll need to supply the printing place with a PDF file.

Best software to use would probably by Illustrator, or a free option would be Inkscape, although the latter can be awkward to use in comparison, and it doesn't come with any Pantone colour references either.

If you know what you are looking for and it's not going to take an age to do, I could probably rustle something up in Illustrator.
