Hey guys. I'm posting for a friend about this so sorry if I'm vague with any detailed information.

Anyway, she's on a photography degree and needs around 20 prints printed at about 8"x8" from negatives for her portfolio and exhibition. She was recommended a place in Brighton (I believe, forgotten the exact name) by her tutor but they can't start them for another 3 weeks (past the deadline).

She'd prefer it if the prints were hand developed but any recommendations of good quality digital printers would be appreciated as well.

Cheers guys :)

There are a few on the noitce board at uni. We have been recommended to go to one, which incidently i cant remember the name but i will check monday and let you know.
Think the one in brighton is silver print, but i might be mistaking it for something else.

I've not used film but Loxley Colour in Glasgow have done some outstanding quality prints from digital files for me. They handle film too but you'll have to send it off. You'll also need to register as it's a professional service but they don't stop you registering if you're not a full time pro.

They do box frames too.

Having looked at my board today, i finally remembered to note who we are using.

we had a guy come in and show us prints, they were very good. Mind, needless to say i take no responsibility if they come out crap :D
Personaly and i have from experience found, that you should always give the people a small 6x4 version of how you want it to look and they will print it accordingly. Relying on someone elses judgement, your more than likely not going to get what you had in mind.

Spectrum are the brighton based printers I believe, they have student discount as well, also there are a group called Menor who do printing and framing with good prices for students. If your around London, I can personally recommend The Print Space, which lets you print your images from their macs, and you get their printer profiles so what you see is what you get, really nice guys there as well (again student discount if you ask)

As you may guess, i'm going through the same process, trying to find cheap 30" x 30" printers....not easy.

Will more than likely go back to The Print Space as there going to start framing as well.
