I was wondering if any of you could help me out.

I have started working at a repair shop and the boss has asked me to research the best professional/corporate virus and malware removal software, money no object. I mean the BEST. The bee's knees, the dog's dangles and various other parts of animal anatomy. We probably run about 10+ virus scans a day on clients computers and untill now have been using avira, malware bytes and spybot S+D. However the boss is now wanting to add value to our service by getting a very powerful professional package that might not be readily available freely (though this is not too important) just so we can excuse the prices we charge for our services.

From the looks of things NOD32 and bitdefender are highly praised for prevention but how are they for detection and removal.

Any and all info would be greatly appreciated ^_^

(and yes I know I have already posted this message, but from the looks of things this way will get a response).

well, i don't know about "the best" but most big corporations will use Symantec Antivirus Corporate Edition. symantec definitely has the most comprehensive definitions database.

I use NOD32 but I don't exactly give it much to do, it just sits there and I never notice it.

The other site that comes to mind is Kapersky.co.uk, I like their website because it gives a bit of background into the people that run the company and gives you the impression they know what they're doing. Don't know how good their AV is though.

Rgds

In my experience in corporate environments, McAfee and Symantec were both poor at detection and removal. I used to install Avast! or Avira and Malwarebytes temporarily to clean most infections. I find that if you have the Avast realtime monitor running when you perform an Avira scan it will pick up anything that Avira might miss, so it is almost like running two scans at once. This would also work if you ran a Malwarebytes full scan with a realtime monitor active. If you really must spend some £££, how about Sophos?

Sophos? ahahahahaha. totally HOPELESS software!

Are these the best tools for removing viruses? Defence is not really an issue as for the computers being scanned prevention is no longer possible.

bitdefender has the best detection going,i know as i have used and extensively tested all the best security software, nod 32 is overated, has rubbish detection, rubbish intrusion prevention and is known to NOT detect many certain types of Malware...nod32 is crap....use it for yourself throw some malware on you pc and watch it sit there undetected(this is what i did on a test laptop)
i once lost my steam account while using nod 32,swicthed to bitdefender and i picked 10 traces of malware

These sites have the top 20 programs in there field reviewed so a lot of the hard work has been done for you

you can use a security suite which will combine all of these in one or you can forget the security suite and choose antivirus, personal firewall and antispyware.

I use bitdefender security suite, malwarebytes, trojan hunter and trojan remover...you dont really need all of these but i like to be really secure,i would suggest a good anti-virus and firewall, most good anti-virus software has trojan/spyware removers included in them.

you can test your own firewall yourself at these websites...bidefender passed all firewall tests

I would also recommend NOD32. I have used it for a few years now, and from my experience it's very good. It always scores relatively highly in tests, and is recommended by a lot of people.

I'm sorry, but I don't trust any reviews that have Norton and McAfee in a top-ten list. Their software might have decent detection, but it comes at a huge cost of system resources. And they have so much other crap bundled in with them.

I've not used any other AV products aside from AVG, Spybot S&D and Malwarebytes and for me, both as a personal user and IT professional, they provide very good security. I also use Comodo as my firewall software. All of these products are free, but they obviously cannot be used within a commercial environment.

I'd recommend the AVG suite to anyone. It doesn't eat unnecessary system resoures, and certainly doesn't interfere with other programs running on your PC (unless it detects it as something dodgy of course). We've been using and selling AVG at our company for the past 5 years without any trouble. Plus, out of most AV packages, you get a 2-year license for the price that most other brands sell a 1-year for.

somebody posted in one of the antivirus thread on this forum pictures of the malware that nod32 let through happily i think its the main antivirus thread

I dont know if i made this clear or not, but this is for the best suite of software to remove infections from computers. Prevention is of no interest, I'm looking for the best detector and remover of viruses/malware/spyware/trojans etc.

A lot of the corporate solutions are poinless for the OP. The main reason why big business use Sophos/Symantec Corp is because of management, auditing and reporting of the installs across a wide network. You don't need that and it's not worth £20k to buy it.

Malwarebytes it is then ;)

I'd get Spybot S&D paid version, Malwarebytes.org paid version, and then you could go with AVG Anti-Virus to supply to the customer once the machine has been cleaned. Since you're already using these you might as well stay with them.

How are you running these virus scans? i.e. if a customer comes in with an infested machine, what is the procedure for dealing with it?

Malwarebytes and Bitdefender are great at clearing out infected computers, use there free trial from the official website and see for yourself
