screen saver tab
screen saver drop down menu (blue downwards arrow )
select "(none)"

yup that's already done as of about 20 seconds after winxp first loads after installing - it's the one at the login screen I want to know how to change

edit: personally I think it's a bit shocking that to change a simple setting like that you have to delve into the registry
it's almost as if Microsoft want you to do their work for them
