I remember someone posting this a while ago, software that allows you to use your ram as if it were a hdd, just like iram but at sata 2 speeds. So you can load programs off it much faster etc...

Seeing as it only costs £140 for 4GB of ram I thought I could make use of this when I upgrade my pc.

i know this can be done but not sure of the program however you wont be able to install programs to it as such seeing as the memory will loose its info on a shutdown, the idrive thing gets round this by powering the ram via rechargable batteries powered off the pci bus iirc

I leave my pc on standby anyway and I've got a ups to protect against power failures so there's no risk of data loss.

Google 'Ram Disk'. You'll find a few programs to do it.

XP has (or did have) its own ram disk driver.

Go to Control Panel, Add Hardware:

1) click next
2) select "Yes", click next
3) scroll to the bottom, select "Add a new hardware device", click next
4) select "Install the hardware from list", click next
5) select "Show all devices", click next
6) scroll down the "Manufacturer" list and select "Microsoft"
7) scroll down the "Model" list and select "Microsoft Ram Disk Controller"
8) click next and it should install
