Programs re-sizing after screen 'wake up'

I'm using a Samsung S34E790C at 3440x1440 and when the screen 'wakes up' after I've been away for a while I find that the programs I've been using resize to something much smaller and move to the top left corner of my screen which is a nuisance. I installed the monitor drivers and its connected via display port to an EVGA GTX 980 SC.

How do I fix this?

Turn sleep/hibernate or whatever you have turning the screen off - off

Odds are you're connected via DisplayPort - it's a known issue. Even turning the screen off, and then turning it on again will cause your windows to be resized.

aahh haaa - thank you for this - I have been wondering if there was something after I got my new Dell screen, changing inputs from the BR player to the pc and Chrome etc kept on being minimized

edit - While the settings were in the registry as mentioned, the change made no difference after a reboot for me
