Programs to test stability

Hi all I have completed my first build and now want to test that it is stable.

Basically I am looking for any programs that will ensure that my rig is sufficiently cooled when the components are really tested.

One thing i am concerned about is my cable management. I have done the best I can but things still look a bit loose in there so I want to make sure this doesnt impact on my air circulation.

I am also using the overclocked i5 bundle so anything that can tell me the speed etc that it is running at would be good.

I am running windows 7 64 bit if that changes anything.

Thanks

Use Prime95, OCCT or Intel Burn Test to test for stability and temps. Preferably a combination of all three.

Use RealTemp or CoreTemp to check temps.

there is a few that will do this ie prime 95 occt ibt and a few others that i can't remember at to mo but these will work well;)

stress testing is ok just watch the temps on your cpu! to make sure they don't go to high!

Ok is this stress testing safe then?

Yes, there are inbuilt safety features in the CPU (thermal throttling) and MB to stop overheating. If for whatever reason it was getting t0o hot the system would shut itself down.

But you should monitor your temps for fluctuations/excessive heat while stress testing - especially the first 10 minutes or so and then leave it to cook for 8 - 12 hrs...

EDIT: Don't use IBT for 8 - 12 hrs!!!

What is a too hot temp?

Well I've got my 920 under Prime right now and it's at 77c, which is perfectly acceptable. I'd try and stay under 80c if possible, but as others have said the CPU will throttle or shut off if it gets too hot.

Think i need to know a good tester too.
I have recently brought a pre overclocked system from ocuk wich they state is tested stable. But in the 4 weeks ihave had it i have had 4 blue screens of death.

So i rum prime 95, system reboots after 7 mins, cpu was only 55.
Then i run everest ultimate edition, system reboots after 45 mins, cpu was 59.
Then i run memtest 86+, that run perfect for over 12 hrs.

So is my pre oc system not stable, or is it just that none of these tests are any good for quad core.

P.S. its not harware failure. its all brand new and i have tried replacement parts.

BradleyBoy, you need to post in the Customer Service Forum - link - and outline your problems there (and you do have problems but they may be easily resolved.).

They will be in a far better position to advise you as they will know the system setup intimately and so will be able to offer far more informed advice or alternatives.

tnx for info im new to this site :)

I have now contacted them, but i think i have allready solved the problem with a simple bios update.

Atm no :(
But today customer services have contacted me and say they going to send me the profile for the updated bios.
So hopefully my system will be preoverclocked again and with a windows 7 stable bios :)
I will let u know how it goes after i run the tests again :)

Edit to let you know the result

OCUK sent me the profile for the updated bios
My system is now completely stable, ran all tests for 12 hrs no problem :)
Cant believe all my problems was down to a bios problem, atleast some problems are simple and free to fix :D
So to all you guys that cant get a stable system try a bios update ^^

Good to hear.

Yep, just a simple CMOS reset or a BIOS update can cure a lot of ills. (It's a shame we're not fitted with one - i would underclock my kids as i'm sure they're running on too many volts :).)
