Project Beetle !

getting the flames symmetrical was quite time consuming and also got through a fair bit of fine line ;)

it looks soooo much better in the flesh the pearl really hits you and the continuity of the flames looks a lot better when you can see the whole car.

i used a curvey (note my total grip on technical terminology) template to add effect at the front edges of the flame as i didn't want the entire front of the car to have a load of amethyst over it.

cheers!, it's on my 'to do' list a 2332 quite poss turbo or maybe *** - the dury is out at the mo on fueling. :D

haven't had time to look really, there is LA performance in santapodshire i need to ring.

i've just seen a pair of new 48's (2nd hand) and arrrrrrrrr. turbo not turbo hmmmmmm

the previous week i 1000(d/a) it all and 1200 wet flat especially round the stars so the clear lays flat/er on it next clear coat.
Sunday finished off prep, blew in a few areas and painted the h/light surrounds, engine lid hinges and engine lid
Monday quick sweep of floor, wiped ceiling sheeting, sprayed with water the wall sheetings to try to keep dirt down to a minimum for the last clear coats!
three clear coats applied / HS so theres plenty of the shiny stuff to mop the hell out of
this morning/Tuesday removed wall and ceiling sheets and demasked doors and bonnet - left window masking on till polished

painting finished !!!!!

only thing is now all the sheeting is down i've remembered what a hole the garage is !!

pictures much the same but the painting is finished.

today being the official day of work on the bug I :
1500 DA all over followed by 3000 DA, took an hour or so then spent the rest of the day waving the mop about

DA'd all over.

polished up.

just had a reply from a guy, so i've got some turbo prepped dells, header and turbo pipowrk, turbo turbo cam, wastegate and intercooler to get sometime :D :D

i'm in the process of sorting whats needed for a bus box conversion, as it appears that would be stronger than a rancho.

and also getting a new case, bigger oil cooler and MSD ignition setup from the states - big dilemma their delivery $230 3-5 days or save myself $110 and go for 4 week delivery / this would pay for the oil cooler?

latest work done is replacing all the ball joints up front, wasn't too bad a job really, and putting the discs on.
trying to make my mind up re:gearbox at the mo, i want to keep it simple, but a bus box conversion is looking the best way forward.
no point in buying a rancho then it break

well not much gone on lately because i'm waiting on bit's from the states to turn up i have on order the following
msd billet distributor
msd6al control box
msd coil
msd lead set.
96 pass oil cooler with electric fan
bugpak engine case / new 4 94mm pistons and crank clearance

i also went to volksworldshow and picked up the turbo kit. + turbo cam + intercooler i need to find a place for!
i also got a new t03/04 hybrid turbo from the states - biggest that will fit the hide-away turbo kit i got.
i just need a few pipes & hoses to complete the kit.

turbo cost me about £250 for a new unit delivered and import tax paid / rip off britain.
all the msd stuff, oil cooler and case has cost £630 delivered (import tax to come) over UK prices it works out i'm getting the new case and the oil cooler for pretty much nowt / rip off britain.

well some of it arrived, I've got the ignition stuff and oil cooler, but the bit i really could have done with(case) hasn't come yet.
