Project/Build/Worklog Thingy. Fractal D Arc Midi.

Sweet you started your build log, most definitely subbing to this one :D

Yeh its started, going well albeit a bit slowly. Getting all the case modding out the way before anything gets installed inside.

The Fractal stickers in the middle of the fans can be pealed off and looks a lot better plain white... :)

That was on the to do list. I peeled one off after warming it up with a hair dryer, its left some residue on the fan centre though, nothing too bad, might come off with bit of elbow grease.

Sundays progress

Right, last bit of progress for this week.
Thats the new top panel now for the arc midi. The holes had to be off centre because the arc midi mounts the rad right close to the edge of the case. I have a 360 rad in the top hence the three holes for three 120mm fans. Once again i will u-channel the holes (if i can bloody find some  ) and double sided tape it down.

And this is what it looks like with both panels - not too bad i think lol.

By this time next week im hoping to have completed these panels, fully installed and have the window cuts done and if i can find some more time get the clear acrylic fixed too.
Let me know what you think.

Soz about the messy desk - i know where everything is :D

Acrylic sheet for the side window mod turned up today. Will go for an all clear sheet and not tinted. Also the acrylic sheets for the front and top are here. Will make them up and see which looks better, the aluminum or the acrylic.
Vinyl wrap, mdpc-x sleeving also here today.
My last two bits will be fittings and liquid. Mayhems pastel or aurora lol.

How did you manage that? Every time I go on that site (when its open) I can't seem to register.

Maybe i was lucky. I chose a day and time when it was open and decided the only thing i wold do is register. I think Nils only opens the shop for no more than 5-10 mins. Once that was done on the next visit i had a looksee to ass what was on offer.

More work done and changes.

I went ahead and cut out the acrylic sheets for the front & top, as per the original plan. Once they were cut out and holes were made for the fans i gave the 'plates' a good old clean and wrapped them in sheet aluminium vinyl wrap. Below is the end result, all that needs to be done is to have the plates fixed to their respective bases with double sided tape. I think it looks better than the ally plates above :D

Mobo

Time to put in all the goodness.
First off we will prep the mobo. I went with this.

The backplate is a nice black colour too, marked up very well.

Some changes to the original plan.
* Window - still going to have a window but now i will just have the one window rather than the three that i had planned. Just easier and less hassle. Window will also be clear and not tinted.

* Fans - thinking of replacing the FD fan inside the case to a gentle typhoon. The GT's seem to move more air. I am going to daisy chain the fans as well. Once done will get myself a Lamptron touch (30w per channel) controller.

I much prefer the standard mesh to your tin foil design, but the internals are looking very nice and that top rad is HUGE!

As said above a bit of rubbing alcohol easily removes the residue left on the fans and they look pretty nice without the stickers.

For a case fan I recommend a Corsair AF 140mm they are very nice, I have 3 of them as exhausts in my case. I think Akasa Apache 140mm is also good. I will have 2 as intakes once I put a rad up top for watercooling.

Do you reckon a 280mm rad can go up to without modding? I kind of need my Drive bays at the moment, is holding a HDD and fan controller. Plan to watercool my CPU and leave the GPU out of the loop for now.

Build is nice I subbed. :D

Hi there
yes a 280 should fit with no probs at all.
