Couple of thick yoga mats between 2 pieces of plywood, should be enough to insulate it. Like a sandwich...the rig will also move more adding to the effect.

For some reason I stopped getting notifications for this thread. I have a friend that now races project cars 2. We ideally want to join a championship or some fun races rather than time trials. Preferably European based. Anyone running anything?

A good bunch with penalties for bad driving so T1 antics are discouraged. You have to register/apply and attend an induction to get to the good stuff, but it's worth it.

@swannyUK just on the off chance it appeals to you, take a look at www.stoopidchallenges.com , it's a time trial championship with real time, handicap and ballast versions running simultaneously, there is a league system, all the telemetry you could ever need and a bit of banter... the flexibility of TT racing with a bit of friendly competition. It's default setup only to keep the playing field level.
