as you can see, the ch160 plus isnt designed very smartly. mATX board makes it difficult to access the rear nvme slot. made a hole, but it isnt precise. i have 1T sn850x with a heatsink, and not sure what to do now.

Yeah, looks like you just missed. Been there. Frustrating.
Can you make the whole bigger (downwards) without killing that rivet? Does it matter to the panel integrity if you do?
Mark it, mobo out, aviation snips in - paying attention to which side of the jaws the metal gets distorted. You want the distortion on the waste side and that mat means having left/right handed snips if you can't get in from the other side or cut the other way.

Having a rear mounted M.2 slot isn't exactly common, to be fair to DeepCool.

Can the heatsink be removed?

Also that's the slowest of the M.2 slots btw.

Can't see anything listed on the product page about lanes being shut off for the rear slot, but yeah, I'd definitely put it in one of the front slots unless you can see yourself needing to swap it out semi regularly

reusing two 1TB M.2 drives from my previous build—one with a heatsink and one without. removing the heatsink from the sn850x is a nightmare, so the only option was to install it on the back of the motherboard. After removing the motherboard again and installing the drive first, everything fits correctly. i'll post new photos this evening.

unfortunately, the vertical gpu option didn’t work out. when i posted photos 5 days ago, i mentioned that i still needed to finish the cabling. the next day, realised that two psu ports for the cpu cables were blocked by the gpu. the asus prime 5070 is 304 mm long. If it were 290 mm, it would fit. with a smaller gpu it is possible to mount verticaly + 2x120 fans below. so this is the final build.
i am not completely satisfied with the build. it feels like the airflow from the two bottom intake fans is blocked by the gpu. with a vertical gpu mount, the airflow would reach the cpu cooler much better. idle temps sit around 51-53°C. when playing cs2, temps are 69-71°C.

You still have (what looks like) 2 intake and 2 exhaust so it should be fine. I have the CH270 with 1 intake 1 exhaust.

Shame it didnt work out with the gpu vertical but I think it looks good with the gpu horizontal. Also, good work with the cables

cabling wasn't easy, but it also wasn't exactly difficult. mostly spent extra time dealing with the LL corsair fans (7) and commander xt. forgot to mention: 2 cpu cables from the sf850 are too short to reach the psu, so ended up spending more money on the corsair pro kit - paracord.

If you're keen to mount the GPU vertically, do you 3D print? Entirely possible to design your own bracket if shifting it about would let you shoehorn it in.

am using a 3d bracket, as you can see in my photos. even with 15mm fans, not enough space because of the cpu power cable ports on the psu. either a smaller gpu or a custom loop.
