Project Complete and Total Overkill

Thanks for the kind words guys, I'm just connecting up the CPU water block with the CPU loop and the motherboard loop for the 762 build, I'll try and get some pictures up tomorrow for you :) Its a shame I dont have any other GPU's to put in it, but I'll see what I can find!

Enjoying the build again, I just wish I had managed to finish it off sooner!! Still wondering when the new Nvidia cards are going to be released? I do wonder if they will be much faster than the current 580 or the newest ATI flagship 7970?? Time will tell!!

Thoroughly enjoyed reading through that, a truly awesome build log i would be proud to have a setup like that very well done :D

Thank you very much for your kind words :)

Awesome setup wow.

Thank you again for the kind comment :)

holy jebus ... May I dare ask you how much you actually spent on that?

On a side comic note - It's a good computer ... but can it play pacman?

Erm I really havent even totalled it up to be honest, but I know that with just the three screens was close to £3500, second thoughts, I'll just make a specification list and we can what its cost!!
I think it might be able to play Pacman, but it struggles with Crysis!! :D

That's impressive....

7970's I feel are due with a 3960X xD

kd

I'm going to wait for the Nvidia counterparts at the very earliest before I even start looking at another card for the 762 setup, I do know I will need a bigger PSU because of the 10 hard drives I'll be putting in it and aside from all of that, 3 graphics cards as well, an overclocked 920 D0 as well..
I was considering an octo core CPU upgrade, I don't want to buy anything less for my next rig :) I think it might need some slightly better cooling though.. :)

Well guys since I have been trying to get the 762 build finished, I have run out of barbs for the water cooling and the build has had to have been stopped for a bit until I get the new barbs through!

I'm going to be added temperature probes to both systems so I can see the temperature of the water in both res's so I can see just how warm it gets.

I've also got a few more plans of trying to upgrade one of the PC's PSU's as I dont think I'll have enough for 3 GPU's and the 10 hard drives I'm going to try and connect!!

I'll put up some more pictures soon of the 762 build.

I have had some bad news in that two of my Dell screens have had issues... :(

One of them on the VGA input and the other had completely died... I did have a look on the Dell's site and I gave them a call regarding if the monitors would be covered under warranty..

Thank fully, both where. One was only one year old and I dont know what had happened but it was showing a green tint to the screen just on that input..
The other was a bit more serious... My girl friends son was using one of my old AMD rigs and a screen and all of a sudden it just went blank. There was no power going to the screen nor did changing cables (both power and DVI/VGA) make any difference.. This screen was the oldest out of the 3 and was thankfully just covered with warranty.

I have been sent two brand new 3011's as replacements and from what I have used them with the screens are great for gaming on. No lag or issues that I did read about which was one of the reasons I went for the 3008's in the first place..

Anyways, I'll try and get some pics up of the new screens and the 762 setup as it is and post online as soon as I can. Gonna be away for a two weeks visiting the girl friend as I'm off from work for 18 days but when I get back, I'll be able to get it hopefully up and running over the first couple of weeks in Feburary!!

Well here's another small update :)

I had bought the girl friend a new TV for Christmas and I took her old one home and I managed to finally get around to sorting out a place for it to live.. So here's what I managed to do for it... Firstly, I needed some sort of legs.....

imgp0001q.jpg

Now given that this is Project Complete and Total Overkill, I thought a big bit of wood would need a bit of a big saw....

imgp0003nc.jpg

Now we need some legs:

imgp0006tw.jpg

Now we need a top...

imgp0005df.jpg

Now for a little bit of a support...

imgp0009eb.jpg

Now altogether....

imgp0013f.jpg

Now I needed to add something so I could put some shelves up.. So I did this....

imgp0001m.jpg

imgp0002n.jpg

First shelf in:

imgp0004sx.jpg

Second shelf in:

imgp0008b.jpg

Third shelf in:

imgp0011mq.jpg

A computer and a few retro consoles installed!!

imgp0013p.jpg

I seem to have found a few more....

imgp0015z.jpg

And some more!!??!!

imgp0020ms.jpg

More still to come!! :)

Overkill Indeed. Well done sir, well done!!

I don't want to live anymore, how can I compare to this? :(

But, can it run Doom 3?

Thanks for the compliments guys, very much appreciated :) There's a few more for you coming very soon :) Here's a few older builds for you... I have no idea if it will run Doom 3!! What's to compare??

Here's a few pictures of my builds :)

I will be testing the rig so I'll probably just be puttin gin the 8800GT for the moment but I will be putting all 3 580's in there to properly test putting the 3 screens together.. I hope I will see an improvement over the two cards I have in the 759 system :)

I'm kinda hoping for a faster clock speed than what I have got from the 759 system, but we'll see :) I just hope I can get it to post!! I can't remember the last time the board was used, but I think it was a long time ago......

I'll try and grab a few more pictures shortly. I'm still learning how to use the camera still!! I hope these will do for a while :)

you defiantly need to change your title to overkillphil :)

Let me know what you think of the pictures below then ;)

You posted just a touch early  :p Thank you for the kind commment :) I do have another rig to sort out. Its another 939 system that I'm giving away :) I'm keeping the two Socket A rigs :)

Thanks for the comment :D I'm just about to start filling the CPU loop.. Sp far, no leaks on the motherboard loop so I think we are safe!! :D

Thanks for the comments guys :)

I'm having problems with the 762 board getting it to boot. I've no idea whats wrong :( I've tried different ram, CPU, graphics card. I've tried the CMOS reset, taking the battery out, reseating the CPU, taking plugs out and nothing is getting it posting... It's coming up with an error code of FF which I thought meant working, but for some reason, its not!!

I've just got back running my 759 build as I was using parts from that (oh what fun that wasn't!!) but I think it's helped somethings!! Cabling for definite!!

Anyways, if anyone can suggest anything, I'd love to hear :)

Well after much swearing and cursing the PC for being pants, its finally working :D I'm just about to install Windows 7 on it before bed and hopefully test out my 8 drive Raid 0 array :D

I hope to report back soon!! :D

Right after a few issues of how to get the damn board to post (thanks to the guys, they know who they are!!) I've got the board working and just for the moment, running at stock...

I'll post up some pics of the rig very soon, but here's a few screen shots for the hard drives I've been using.. I'm unsure if the performance will change much when I do overclock the CPU (as its still at stock speeds at the moment) but at the moment, I'm pleased with what I'm getting :D

Anyways, here's a few screenies :)

I think the numbers aren't to bad considering how 'old' the drives are. I'm very pleased and I can't wait to get the drives put back into the case!! I have to buy another cable since the SAS drives require a different fitting at the back of the drives :) Gonna have a hunt around for that tomorrow before working tomorrow evening :)

I look forward to putting the rig pics up shortly :) Hopefully, it wont take me too long!! :) I hope that you guys will approve!! :)

Right guys, since I've just finished a 12 hour night shift and was up from 8am yesterday morning, I'm bloody shattered so rather than whaffle on, I'm just gonna let these load of pics do the talking :)

I hope they are good enough!!

I'll try and grab some more pics soon, I'm off to bed tho first cos I'm knackered!! I hope you enjoy the pics!!

great thread! love the den!

Thank you!! I still don't think they are a big enough case for everything I have in there, but bloody hell are they heavy!!

Holy ****

I hope that's good!! :confused::eek:

That last image in post #62 should be classified as porn! DAYUM!

Stoner81.

Well I think I should have perhaps taken a pic with the keyboards/mice and them on but I don't think the pic's turned out very well so I'm gonna have to do that again!!

Still more to do with them both, but for now, I've a lot of gaming time to catch up on!! :D

Just managed a few updates....

Here's the pics :)

I actually really like the blue, so I think I might have to see if I can source some lights or something.. I'm thinking of trying to get the two 120mm fans mounted somehow, but I'm not sure how.. I'd like to get the sides put on but with the Adaptec cards in the system and how hot they get without a fan I need something there to push air over it.. I might also try and invest in a ram fan as well like I have on the 762 build :)
I've also managed to get the rig stable with less Vcore and VTT which I'm really pleased with :) Here's a pic:

But for now, its gaming time :D

I hope to get the 3 580's installed in the 762 rig soon and post some screen shots up and some new pics too :) I hope to get all 3 screens working :D Should be interesting to say the least!! :D
