Project Dinosaur Build. Restoring of a 14 year old case! [Full build, Pic heavy]

I've recently replaced my parents old PC (in fact my old one but moved on and gave it to them) and this has inspired me to hold on to it for future modding. Really like what you've done, it's really impressive and certainly encourages me to have a go. It's a Cooler Master 631 in black. Good to know that stove paint will get it nice and black at the back and inside.

It's an SLI EN7600GS with an E6600. Not sure the internals will be too useful?

Definitely have a go at modding the case, its really fun :)

Modify the case in such a way that you get the absolute most air flow going in the case, then overclock the 7600s and E6600 to the absolute limit and see how it performs for a bit of fun :)

And then also, if its no use to you, you might be able to sell it to a friend or give it to someone in your family whos into computer gaming but has a absolutely terrible machine or something? so that they can play better.

I did my project this rig for my missus as she used to play games on a laptop and it was pretty bad lol.

Excellent project looked like a lot of fun.

I actually have that board sat on a shelf with a Core 2 Duo sat in it, no idea what to do with it!

Do what I did :p If you have no case for it to go into, Get one out of a skip, or anything really, anything you can get your hands on,

Use any old parts you have, salvage anything you can, modify the case for the maximum air flow, tinker around, play with what you have, its fun!

Definitely better than taking a drill and hammer and paint to your shiney main rig and ruining things unless you have the money to fix it or to not worry about anything if it goes wrong.

You know whats made me laugh looking at the pictures., I ran that tagan 700W psu which is in this build, I ran it in my main rig for a few years, I thought the label on the side had just gone dodgey, I didn't realise till I was making this build that it was a protective film over the badge on the side.

But for the sake of the pictures, it does look quite good how iv incorporated that, looks like im giving the build a new heart :p when infact its a old psu, was in the cupboard for 12 months lol :p

I did actually do this once before, probably at least 10 years ago, I seem to remember coming home to find a stack of at least 20 computers a friend of a friend was getting rid of.

Me and a friend then stripped them down to parts, the entire living room floor was covered in PC parts, it was magical. :D

love this. just the idea of keeping the old bits going makes great sense.

Ive always liked the look of they power supplies

It does :)

True, your paying probably the same amount of electricity bills to run old parts, as you are with new parts but without the performance you get of new bits.

But for someone like my missus who doesn't care how good the game looks as long as it doesn't lag, then its all good!
