Spotted some Sapphire ref 7970's for £343 inc, trying so hard not to pull the trigger yet.

Did some mild overclocking last night, unigine crashed on max CCC sliders, major artifacting with AB at 1100/1325 @ 1180mv. But I have just discovered seemingly 12.3 and ULPS combine to screw up overclocks on 79xx cards. Will give 12.4 beta and Trixx a whirl tonight and see if I can at least max out CCC clocks.

Card has not crapped it, windows did though, fresh install of windows 7 and its running like a dream.

Aaaaand now I'm selling it, fancy a play with 3D so the new game plan is a pair of 680's in SLI

If I get it sold tonight I will be ordering the first 680 tomorrow (Ocuk Tech Lab version).

Just purchased an EK XTX 360 for the top, planning to put an RX120 in the rear and if I can fit it an RX140 at the bottom, along with some form of internal res/pump combo for my D5. Should sit along nicely with some 680s

Opted to save a few quid and got a 670 windforce, which fits a 680 block

Block should be with me today or tomorrow, then its just a case of waiting for my latest MM purchases to arrive, some Akasa Viper fans and a Primochill Typhoon III D5 bay res.

670 Block arrive last night, getting fitted today, just going to run it off the 1080/reserator combo. Still waiting on a few loose ends to arrive to get everything internal, so its on hold now until the weekend

Just about all the internals are here, just need to order some blanking plugs, a t-line and fish out a 1/4" ball valve for a drain line. Will update later today with some pics of the 670 block fitting.

Performance wise fitting a block to the 670 has achieved absolutely nothing.

Almost forgot about this!

Had another change of direction, the 670 is now long gone, in its place we now have an MSI R7970 Lightning, which will be fitting with a waterblock in the coming weeks (when EK release it). I may get started on fitting the rest of the internals shortly, as at the moment the 1080 rad is out of the loop, relying on the reserator for cooling my processor which I've had to down-clock to 4.3ghz to keep the temps in check.

Will take some today of the current state, need to order a t-line and ball valve for draining, will grab a 140.1 for the bottom while I'm at it, will grab some pics of what I have ready to fit too

My apologies (again) for the lack of updates, been snowed under with work!

BUT

Now re-thinking mounting the 1080 to the side of it, Phobya make a case specifically for mounting the 1080 (Called Ultrabig Watercase V1 or something or other), I would usually just go and buy the case, but as it is I have 2 cases sat doing nothing (NZXT Gamma & Corsair 500R) and don't need an 800D taking up room collecting dust either.

So I'm going to get drilling some holes, hopefully starting this weekend if I remember to take some set-squares from work and leave the 1080 passive. My change of heart on the matter is that a replacement panel is only $20, so if I wreck it, its not going to dent my wallet buying a new panel.

Doing this I'm debating leaving out the RX120, purely to give me room for routing the tubing, so all in all going to end up with a 360 + 1080.

Right, have just ordered some M3 penny washers, some regular washers and some M3x10mm screws, the closer the rad sits to the panel with the penny washers for better weight distribution should stop the panel from kinking, failing that I may just weld in some flat bar for support.

Just mocking up now (will put some very un-interesting pics up later as well as what the machine looks like atm).

I'm actually thinking I might not need spacers between the radiator and the panel, the sheer size of it, as well as the slight recess between the outer frame and the fins should provide me with enough breathing room. ultimately going bolt>washer>panel>rad. Last thing to sort out is draining, going to grab some QDC's to connect directly to the rad (makes removing the panel a hell of allot easier too). Also some anti-kink coils as it could prove to be a tight bend getting the tubing in the back of the case.

Well well well, we have progress at long long last!!!

That mighty big rad.

Sizing up using a spare 9x120mm face plate, which will also double as a support.

Drilling the holes, drilled an extra set to cover any mishaps, 3mm holes are very easy to mis-align.

The hard part done:

That tubing is going to come off as soon as I get my QDC's and some other bits and bobs, haven't finished modding the side panel though, still have to bolt-on hose clamps to hold a bulkhead, from each rad port it will go QDC>Hose>90 deg fitting (bulkhead)>hose into case c/w anti-kink coils. Also still have to drill a hole to feed the fan cables through into the back, may also make a cover plate for the fans at work, stop any curious cats sticking their paws in

The radiator is also going to act as a res/drain, a T-piece will be getting fitted to the return line complete with fill port.

WW that 800d is massive!!

Yup, I can't even begin to imagine how much its going to weigh fully loaded, I struggle to lift it as it is, may need to devise some for of trolly for it.

Also, I think this may well be the most raddage crammed onto an 800D, ever?!

Maybe I should show Corsair and see if they will reward my efforts xD

Bicepo's is 1240mm (480 + 480 + 280)of rad coverage I will have 1440mm (1080 + 360)

Though admittedly Bicepo's will look infinitely better than mine. He really has used every last inch of space in that build it looks fantastic.

You may notice some of the fans look like they are hanging off, I still need to fire some bolts into the fans where the mounting feet used to be.

Rest of the bits will be with me tomorrow, currently sat at the PO depot then on with the build!! Still waiting for EK to hurry up and release a waterblock for the 7970 Lightning too.
