Just wondering if i can get my hands on a borked 7900GT, would it be possible to reflash its bios using the BIOS from my current 7900GS, so that it would function as a GS enableing me to sli it with my current card?

They did something similar on vr-zone moddiong a GS to a GT so wondered if its possible the other way round ?


Obviously id get one thats not been blown up with a volt mode or something

didnt the GS > GT on vr zone end up with him changing resistors around?
i doubt it would work if that is the case

Yes it did come to think of it but didnt he do that to try and enable the other 4 pipes?

Maybe trying a dead 7800GT would be a better bet.

ah, so you want to flash a GS bios onto a dead 7900GT

hmm, it might be possible then. just depends what has gone on the 7900GT.
if its the GPU it wouldnt be possible, capacitors/resistors would need to be replaced then it could be...


also you would need to get hold of a PCI card to flash the 7900GT, afaik a blind flash to a dead card doesnt work

Well ive just got hold of a pci voodoo banshee on MM so thats that sorted out.

Ive put an ad on MM for a broken 7900GT, obviously one thats been blown up wont work but you never know.

Youre probably right but i might get lucky and find one thats been butchered with a replacement cooler or something thats un-RMA-able

If you can find one for a good price then it might be worth it, sure

Though If you're needing more performance I'd buy a new card and sell your current one. You might have more trouble than it's worth.
