Right then, this a log for the PC i've just built for Gaming/Blu-Rays/Music Production. Its an IB-based build, with the main goals being -
To be made of newer technologies (lower nm parts) when possible,
To be quiet but not warm in use, and
To be powerful and reasonably power effecient.

Main specs of the machine are:
Antec Lanboy Air
Intel i5 3570K
Asus Z77 Sabertooth
MSI R7870 TFIII
Samsung 30nm DDR3 RAM
Corsair AX750
OCZ Vertex 3 60GB
WD Black 500GB

----------

Before I actually show the pictures of the new machine, i'll show you where i'm coming from (other than my MBP from 2009)... :)

EDIT: Got it running again, and its an Athlon XP 2600+ at 1.97 GHz with a Radeon 9600 Pro. Built between 2003-04 and re-cased and given a better power supply a year and a bit ago. Has trouble running YouTube video if its anything above 240p!

Most of the parts were bought (including the case fans to replace the stock ones) specifically so that they would be quiet... except for the speakers of course :D

The reason for the add-in USB3 card is that the LBA hasn't got an internal header for it.

I started by getting the power supply, hard drives and disc drive installed (as can be seen). Also, I rearranged the LBA to the set-up I preferred, with the front fans at the top.

Next, started getting everything unpacked and ready to install, starting with the motherboard and the main components.

When suddenly... a wild pet appeared! :p

Why do cats like boxes so much?

Anyway, I then got the processor, RAM and motherboard fitted in the case.

Next, the PCI-E cards, including the 7870.

Cooler mount next for the Noctua - it just fits in with the Sabertooth's Thermal Armour left on...

... and the cooler fitted and secure.

Cables and connectors mostly installed...

... and after some cable tidying and plugging all the fans in, the whole thing is done!

Now, to get Win7 installed and enjoy those Haribo... thanks OcUK :D

As I said in the first post, the LBA doesn't have an internal USB3 header... and by the time there were internal header converters available, I had already gotten the PCI-E card... :(

Perhaps I shall join that club with a picture of the finished board! Thanks :)

The case is nice from my point of view, though I know its marmite for many.
I like the modularity and the airflow of it, as well as the aesthetics - only a couple of niggles being the small amount of room behind the MB for cables, and the SSD mount at the bottom of the case giving very little room for SATA cables.

Overall I like it though! I really like the look, and with the fans on low, its very quiet.

Minor update.

Got my copy of Windows 7 installed in about 5 mins, got all the drivers installed, and now it is almost ready (downloading the games will take forever...)

Boots in about 20 seconds, and is as fast and quiet as can be!
