They look nice JeffyB. What's the quality like of the EK compression fittings? I mainly chose Bitspower fittings are I like the chunky look of them :p And I have heard they are excellent quality. I will have a think about those EK fittings. If I go Bitspower, I really like the look of the Black Sparkle fittings that Rich is using.
 
Ok. I will look around then. Will perhaps go 7/16" ID - 5/8" OD then, if the tubing size doesn't make such a huge difference. Going to price it all up tonight, not that I'm buying the water stuff for a few months, but I need an rough idea of what it is actually going to cost me!

As for the rest, once I get my loan in, I will be buying the AX1200 and the GTX 480. So expect movement on the building. October will see the cabling get tidied, when I take delivery from Nils at MDPC-X. Nice cable braiding will take place then :)

The rest of the build is still put back, but like I said, planning is still on going. Can tweak as I go.

Update: I had a weak moment, and thought about buying a TJ07. Then I realised, that my current case is just as big as a TJ07, and I really didn't need it :p So, keeping the 840, seems like a fun case to watercool. Maybe a TJ07 can be on my list next year if I still want one.

Done a little cost cutting on this build.

I decided on the EK 7/16" ID - 5/8" OD compression fittings for now, the Bitspower ones are simply a bit too expensive. Found the EK fittings for around £2.39 each, to that's a huge reduction in fitting costs! In total, the project is currently going to come to just under £400 :) Which is nice. I also think I am going to go for the EK CoolStream XT 360 radiator.

I should hopefully have my GTX 480 and AX1200 in two weeks time (my loan comes through then) but I will need to see for definite, as my girlfriend's loan is getting messed around by the SLC.

If all money comes in, I will begin purchasing the lot in November (around the end, after I have my pay from October and November).

My GTX 480 and Corsair HX 1000 arrived today! :D

VERY impressed by the HX 1000 quality. Amazing. First ever Corsair PSU, will DEFINITELY be buying another one when I need a new PSU. Excellent. My Zotac GTX 480 is awesome too :) Just running some benchmarks etc, and looking at DX11 features.

Going to overclock it tomorrow. The fan isn't as bad as I thought it would be either. I'll post some pics tomorrow, as I have work tonight, and I'm pretty shattered. Need to tidy all the cables etc :)
 
Currently, my case is still sitting with cables everywhere. I've been very busy at work (I work the union, and Freshers week has just finished), so I will get the cables all tidied this week, and hopefully a few bad photos :)

The water cooling is on hold until next year (figured the GTX 480 can heat the lounge for winter :p)

Just to add, this has mostly been put on hold, as most of my funds have been diverted elsewhere for now sadly :(

Updated the first post with some progress finally!

I managed to source a GTX 480 waterblock and backplate (they are arriving tomorrow) and either going to order loop for delivery AFTER my exam (best idea I think here), or order the loop in early January. Depends if I can sort the money before Christmas or not. Thankfully, all my Christmas shopping is done :p

Will post some photos of the shiny block tomorrow when it arrives!

Sleeving is going to wait until January when I have some more time for that (and money for the sleeving :p). The main aim for this year, is to get the loop in, and the case tidied around it (currently it's a HUGE mess inside cable wise).

PARTS ORDERED! Woooooo!

Getting delivered on the 12th December (Since I need to revise for my exam on the 13th until then). Will be building it on the 13th after my morning exam! Cannot wait :D

Bulk of the parts arriving tomorrow! Won't be building the loop until about Tuesday, but will be nice to have everything here finally :)
 
So, my shiny new parts are here! Just waiting on my tubing and reservoir delivery now!

I was shocked at the size of the pump! It's HUGE compared to what it looks like in the photos! Very surprised me, but it's gorgeous! Will update with some pics later :)

The pump is MASSIVE compared to how big I thought it would be! Crazy!

Tubing is the only thing not here yet. Damn 3-5 day shipping from where I bought it from. Would rather have bought somewhere else, but it was out of stock sadly :(

Also, Mayhem's biocide was out of stock at Overclockers, will be getting that sent when it's back in :)

Little bit annoyed today. Tubing still hasn't turned up. It's still in Manchester Mail Centre, which is annoying considering it was dispatched on Wednesday from that area. Not ordering from them again if I can help it. Terrible shipping from Royal Mail too.

I do however have my distilled water now. A full 10 litres of it, for flushing the rad, and leak testing. And cleaning when I need to clean it all :p
 
I wanted to ask the more experience of you here about how to go about testing the loop. Should I

1) Leak test the loop in place in the PC overnight (with everything off of course)

or

2) Leak the the loop out of the PC overnight, and then build it inside the PC and leak test for a few hours?

I'm guessing, that if there are any major component problems, the leaks will appear even when it isn't inside the case, and that's the main reason to leak test, beside checking that my fittings are secure?

What do you suggest?

At least it means I can move forward, and get the loop started tomorrow!

The great day has arrived!

Finally fitting the loop! Will take some pics soon of progress. Just stripped the 480 back!

The bay reservoir is going to be a challenge to fix into the ATCS 840. I forgot about the stupid tool-less 5.25" bays. They are a bit of a pain, since I had no screw holes on one side now.
