Before I get flamed.. yes I will finish Project Android. But that is my server, this is my main rig. :)

Right, my current rig is a modest spec, but it does its job fairly well. Ive been planning on upgrading to a Conroe/Kentsfield rig, but for the moment my A64 will have to do. The whole rig is built inside an Antec p180 which I loved when I first got it, but its slowly been annoying me. Its over engineered and fiddly to work with. So to replace it I got a Lian Li v2000;

For quite some time, ive wanted to fiddle with water and phase cooling. Initially I thought that my next rig would be water, then eventually I would move on to phase. But then I got thinking; Why do one at a time? Why not dive in at the deep end and build a computer with water AND phase cooling? I knew I could easily fit water cooling in a V2000, but what about the Phase cooling? I didn't like the ideo of a seperate box with it all in. So I did a bit of research and found that a custom unit could be built in the lower chamber of the v2000. So I asked Gray Mole if he would do me the honour of "make it cold and make it pretty". :D

But since I was going to get a custom phase unit built, I also wanted it to be something special. So I carefully chose parts to give it that extra bit of 'bling'.

As you might be able to see in that pic, there is a clear enclosure courtesy of Aitor and Silencer. This fill form the centerpiece of the whole rig. The unit also includes a NL11F compressor, a vapochill style backplate with heater, EL wire down the suction line and other smaller details.

I had the enclosure drilled, and white LEDs inserted. Gray also decided to use an unseen controller due to certain issues with the Golden Froster controllers.

The phase unit has now been completed and im very pleased with it. As you can see, most of the components have been painted black to match the compressor. Most of the rig is going to be black, to make the phase enclosure etc stand out more.

Now that the phase unit is all done, I have to do a bit of modding. I have to drill 2x1" holes for the DD fillports. One will go on top of the case for the T-Line, and the other will go at the bottom of the case to act as a drain. I then need to make a cover for the drivebays to neaten it all up a bit. This cover will also include 2x120mm fans to draw air over the harddrive caddies (6xSmartdrive 2002c) I was going to take the case to pieces and have the inside anodised black, but after looking a the work involved, im probably going to end up covering the inside of the case in black acrylic.

Most of the waterloop is in a box next to me now and consists of;

DDC2 pump + Petras top
2xMaze 4 GPU blocks
Maze 4 NB block
DD fillports
DD fillport res
Tygon 1/2" tubing
Thermochill 120.1 rad.

Just like my other project, this one might take a while, but I will update it as things progress. Hope you like it as much as I am. :)

Interested to see how you fit the water system in there.

Have you got a final spec of this new system?

Im hoping to have the pump in the bottom, behind the compressor, the rad mounted on the back 120mm fan slot. (Although there might be a slight space issue here) and the Tline running to the top of the case.

Looks awesome mate,great work once again !!!

how long have you put the android off for,or you still working on it at the same time as this one?

Rob

Cheers. Yeah, ive put it on the backburner a bit now until it warms up a bit so I can paint. I will finish it though, don't worry about that.

i never liked the look of the v2000 but must say i have been turned, very nice

Yeah, I didn't really like the v2000 to start with, but its really grown on me. Initially I wanted a PC-201, but im glad I didn't as I can now see the phase controller display.

Tell me you wont be keeping that grey flat cable ;)
Is that connecting the LCD?

Love the clear enclosure :)
Hehe, don't worry I won't be keeping the gray cable. That was just to test the enclosure. Im eventually going to have 6x Enclosures all with SATA drives, and hopefully also a SATA DVD-RW. All the cables will be black or sleeved. The LCD is connected through a nice thin sleeved cable running down the side of the case.

Looks good so far.

Whats the deal with the controllers? Can you set it to a temperature and it will try its best to get to it.
i.e. higher temp = lower noise and vice versa?

The controller is essentially a safety device. You can set startup temp, shutdown temp, fan speeds, display messages etc etc. It also looks damn good as well. :) Edit; And yeah, due to the gas blend I can have the system run fairly quietly, or I can have it running colder, but with louder fans.

have you run the compressor at all? If so how do you feel about the noise?

Oh yeah, and damn you!

tis very sexeh

Well thank you Mr Matt :D

Yeah, I started her up briefly and watched the frost develop :) She's got a bit of a rumble to start with, but it soon softens after a minute or two. I think I can live with the noise tbh. Its not like I leave the pc on while I sleep. And most of the ime it is on, ive also got heaphones on.

On another note, can you or anyone else who reads this, get hold of or swap a plain V2000B sidepanel? Im going to have to look at it closer, but I think the fan mesh on my +II will interfere with my planned window design. Oh, and ive managed to find a place that will laser cut my panel and fabriacte a few other parts I need... for free! :D

I have a spare V2000B+ Side Panel if you still need one ?

You have an email adress or use MSN? I'd rather keep any trading out of this thread. But yeah, how much would you be looking for? :)

Considering your other projects can't wait to see how this ends up when its all done.

Cheers Yewen. Ive managed to get access to a laser cutter for free as well, so it should turn out quite nice I hope. Still undecided about the anodising though. It would certainly look great, but its going to be a massive job taking the whole case to pieces.

nice, you built one before ? need more specs, gas, evap blocks, compressor HP etc etc ??? :)

MW

Nope. This one was built by Gray Mole. I would love to build one sometime, but I still lack many of the tools I would need. The specs of this unit are;

404/402a blend (I think)
@itor Evap and enclosure
Danfoss NL11F compressor
Vapochill style backplate with heater
Mach style condensor
Unseen controller with Black/White display.

On the 150w tester it's doing well though. I used a 402a blend as I liked the setup on the condensor cooling and it's been great. -63 at no load, and -42 on 150w after about 1/2 hour so far. Compressor staying fairly cool, and no problems with it at all.

I've been using it with the tester for a while now, and while it's still no right at lower loads, it seems to be about right for 210w. I backed off the charge just a little and it fell off at about 210w, -33c.

:)

Not sure id this thread belongs better in here or in the cooling section now that im doing the cooling work. But today ive been working on the watercooling part to try and work out a bit of the tube routing etc.

Work out where the fillport and res should go;
p1010029or5.jpg

Make sure its central;
p1010032hj5.jpg

Drill a hole;

And fit the fillport and res;

Looks good to me;
p1010036lb5.jpg

Need one on the bottom for the drain as well;
p1010038ye7.jpg

That fits nicely;
p1010039eu7.jpg

Fortunately the thread was big enough on the fillport for it to fit right through the phase unit baseplate;
p1010041te6.jpg

Thats all for today. Ive still got to fit the blocks, but im going to leave that until im ready to fit everything in.;
p1010047en4.jpg

It was all a mighty tight squize to fit everything in. The main problem was fitting the T-line and making sure that there would be no air locks. My only slight concern is that the compressor might get quite hot and may affect the tubing. I will have to cross that bridge when I get to it though.

You sure your rad is not going make mounting the evap a pain in the bum? I had problems with a 38mm fan in the same place with my Kayl head.

Went and put a PA120.3 in the top just for the NB

I have to do a final dress reharsal, but im fairly sure its fine there.

A small update;

baycoverblueprint2ch9.jpg

baycoverperspectivetq1.jpg

p1010055ls0.jpg

The bay cover needs to be neatened up a bit, then polished and maybe painted/covered in black acrylic. Theres also rubber trim to fit along the bottom of it. I designed the bay cover perfectly. Unforunately I hadn't taken in the fact that I needed to be able to fit it into consideration. :o So I need to trim about 1/2" off the top for the thing to fit in the case. :)

OO nice...wouldn't mind one of them in my V2000B!!

The hose will be fine, the 2 80mm's you go them sucking in or out?

If the rad doesn't clear, fit roof mount it but interanly!!

You also need a PSU! Nice PC+P 510 will do the job and exactly what i have going spear currently

Thats 2x120mm fans :) Sucking in and drawing air over the harddrives. Don't worry about the PSU, thats just a crappy one to test for size when fitting the water loop. I'll be using my black Tagan in the end.

Ive got a bit more work done today;

Had to trim about 1cm off the top to be able to fit the thing. Ive also sanded the whole thing down to remove scratches. Ive also drilled the holes for mounting the fans. I now need to bore out the holes a bit bigger, and drill holes in the edge 'flaps' to mount it to the case.

Looking good, is that painted black in the bottom 2 pics?, or is it just the lighting. Looks good black if you have painted it.

Well I was toying with the idea of anodising or painting the inside of the case. But that would mean de-riviting the whole case, then putting it all back together again. I know I could take it all apart, but I wasn't confident in my ability to put it all back together properly. So ive found the solution(RB Customs is going to kill some kittens when I say this); Fablon. Its a sticky back plastic stuff that really easy to apply and has a great finish. The finish actually looks like its been anodised and im very pleased with the results. Im going to be covering the rest of the inside of the case today. :)

Any updates dude?

Yeah. Ive put all the hardrives into the Smartdrive 2002c enclosures, and bolted the cover on. Ive attached the phase head to the mobo and tested for condensation(Seems to be absolutely fine) Ive put together, filled and bled the waterloop. Im now putting the PSU in and wiring it all up. Unfortunately im having problems with the phase unit detecting the PSU. If I can get that sorted, I should hopefully be finished withing a week or so.

The water loop is looking very funky is I say so myself. Its a pretty UV blue colour. The routing of the tubing was fun though, ended up having to go Pump>Rad>GPU2>NB>GPU1>Pump just to avoid silly tight bends. I also had to saw down the length of the mounting pins on the block so that they didn't interfear with each other.

Yeah i saw your post on XS, seams like Gray did not send you the detials how it works or the manual

Gray mole showed me how it works in person and ive got the manual. Im still having issues with it though.
