Project:- Modzart

Looking forward to seeing what is going to happen- I love the choice of colours! Are you going for one of those gold and matte black Gigabyte boards? On that note, I have a Cougar GX850 and an Enermax MaxRevo 1350W that I'll be putting on the MM soon that would look sweet here, just send me a trust and you can have first dibs! Anyway, MOAR PICS! :P

as mentioned above i'm reviewing with OC3D. Great fun, a lot of work, but Tom is a great guy to work for. thanks for the offfer re the PSU, but i've got one sorted thanks to the nice chaps at BeQuiet.

really hoping i can get cracking soon, not too much outdoors stuff left to do then I can bring it in and do the install

Thanks for your continuing support guys

Well it's been a while but finally the weather's turned a bit warmer, the roof of the workshop is fixed(ish) and the modding is about to re commence.

After a bit of a sweep up the work area was good to go. First job was to get the PSU vent cut in the side window.

PSU wise i'm using a bequiet 1200w model The PSU was very generously sponsored to me last year by the great guys at bequiet. Unfortunately I haven't been able to crack on with the build before now so along with a big thank you comes a big apology.

The other thing I needed was a new dremel. Of course I didn't know this until I got half way through cutting some perspex and there was a loud POP from my trusty old unit.

First thing then was to place the PSU and take some careful measurements so as to determine where to lace the hole in the perspex.

And as luck would have it it's in the right place.

Also got the perspex mounted into the doors so not a bad days work. I've left the reverse side protective plastic on for now which is why it looks opaque. It is in fact "mid smoke"

As a result of some of the reviewing i've been doing i've managed to get hold of the rather excellent BitFenix 200mm fan. having already cut a roof plate to accommodate 4 fans i'm now thinking maybe go with one bigger one instead?

I'll cut a plate for it and see how it looks I think.

Cheers DiCe and thanks for being patient.

Anyways. a bit more activity today

Just need to try to decide which roof fan set up to use.

Plan A: 4x120mm fans, most likely BitFenix Spectre Pros but perhaps Scythe GT1450s Low RPM and quiet anyway as they're just keeping the roof area fresh.

The roof box frame, now black not it's original Aluminium.

The 4 hole option

Plan B: The single hole option using 1x220mm BitFenix Spectre fan.

I'm tempted by Plan B as it will be easier to wire in (less cables to manage under the perspex) and also because it will be quieter.

Wondering whether to spray the fan up or keep as is as it happens tomatch the perspex quite well.

Thanks for looking and Mod on :)

Nice to see work starting again G-Dubs.

I wonder if the LEDs from that 220mm fan will bleed into the top acrylic sheet for some nice subdued glowing.

Good to hear from you my old friend, and thanks for the comments. Not thought about the LED bleed, if I get lucky i will be a nice effect.

Trying to find something to edge the hole with at present. It's 3mm thick acrylic so normal blow hole trim won't open up enough.

Still if life was simple we'd all get bored easily ::)

Sounds like you need 3mm U channel there mate. Not sure what the normal stuff you get is designed for but the stuff I've seen is sold for use on classic cars. Might even have larger sizes.

This ones on the back burner for now, but I will be coming back to it from time to time as it's a labour of love.

I've recently finished the phantom 410 (Project NZXSPC) over at OC3D which has been a great experience.

This will replace my Watercooled Antec Skeleton (as per sig image) and i'll be putting it up for sale I guess. be sad to see it go as it was one of my first projects.
