hi,

thought I would post a thread showing the stages of the project I'm about to start :)

its going to be a wall mounted computer case, making my computer more of a feature of my room, and hopefully improving cooling :)

the project is at its early stages at the moment, i have done a quick drawing in paint to try show what I'm going for.
i hope you can understand it :) only one of my friends said they understood it

i will start making a rough build first as i am planning on using some nice wood, and dont want to mess them up
i will hopefully start that later today, or tomorrow

I have started some today, but the heat got the better of me :p

as you can see I am using scrap bits of wood at the moment to get it all right, nothing is screwed in yet, and the two wooden bits standing up will be metal on final version :)

all its going to have is back and front panels, the bottom with have the fans blowing up.... I think it should cool it pretty good 4 120mm fans and the fact heat rises ;)

You could use all that area to lay everything quite flat - simular to a HTPC so that its not much deeper that a victorian picture frame :)

Or are you going for a more contempory look - if so remember to have a shadow gap
(over hang the main panel at least 5cm from the sides of the 'box')
A really nice wood venier (ply) could look the business or is it going to be solid wood?
You could even use laminate flooring to clad the front (so no need to sand and wax/varnish)

If you haven't already, think about where the screen, keyboard and mouse (cordless?) are going to go.

im trying to get it as flat as possible but with a Thermalright Ultra cooler on my cpu its abit hard.... anyone recommend me a cooler that is flatter and still has good cooling?

i have already planned to make the front panel bigger than the rest of it :)

its for my q6600 will be overclocking so would like good cooling
 
quick update on this project,

nothing happening really, due to lack of funds at the moment :mad: :( im just using this time to plan some things, think I've solved the problem with how to hang it, allowing it to be easily put up and taken down when needed.... this way also makes it so i can hide cables at the back of it too :)

I've tried to start so many projects but never seen them through, but think this one is best idea I've had so i will make sure I see it though

PS nice cutting though I imagine keeping that straight line with hand saw is not as easy as it looks.

well there is only going to be 2 sides to the case, 3 maximum.... air blowing straight though and out

tomorrow will get a metal drill bit, so am able to start screwing parts down and get everything right :)

then its on to making the front and sides :)
 
hi,

this is going rather well for me at the moment, just got a problem... mounting the hhds how i have makes it so ever vibration is heard :( can anyone think of a way to mount them and not have noise?

got it on the wall and all wired up :)

think it looks rather neat :D temped to spray the board and leave it like that for the time being, i need to save money and it looks pretty good like that imo
