Right then lets get this log under way.

I have had my old Cheiftec Dragon sat at the top of my stairs for ages and if I don't do something with it soon the mother will be taking it to the tip and we can't be having that!

I've never done any real case modding before now so I thought I would use this as on opportunity to do something with it.

The plan is to make it candy pink on the outside and white on the inside along with a perspex window. If all turns out well I'll stick my GF's PC in it (E6300, 2Gb RAM, 6600GT)

Here's the pics so far:

I have already drawn the line for cutting but the photo is blurry and I cba to take it again.

I'll try pick up the paints during the week and next step will be to Dremel out the side panel.

Not a bad way to get some case modding practise in before doing any to a brand new case!

Was going to say pinks an odd choice of colour for the outside but if its for your girl its not too bad :p haha

Yeah pink isn't really my thing but depending how good this turns out might have to give her my P182 :P

So you didn't get that case out of my attic? That's the first case I ever bought, the blue version too. Ive thought about modding it when I saw it earlier but it also looks very thin, with no room behind the mobo tray. I think ill get all the plastic off it first, cos its all pretty damaged on mine.

Actually I think mine is taller full tower?

True, there isn't much space behind the mobo 'tray' will cross that bridge when it comes to thinking about the cable management.

This isn't the full tower, that was and still is way to large for my liking. Wouldn't know what to do with all those bays.

Made a pink and fluffy one for my gf, was good fun.

Is a good way to use up all the "red" cathodes/leds/cables/etc which are often just pink.

What kind of paints are you planning on using?

Don't know yet, struggling to find anywhere that does pink. Only place I can find is Halford's and its 'fluorescent' apparently.

Plasti-kote do three pinks - I'm sure you could order on for a stockist

Fast Dry Enamel 100ml Aerosol - HOT PINK 115-S
Super - CAMEO PINK SATIN 2107
Super - HEATHER VIOLET GLOSS 1141

Great thanks for that, I checked B&Q website but couldn't find a great deal on there.

I'll take a trip before the weekend.

I've got one the exact same colour as that! (blue, not pink!) Only I've managed to snap all the hinges on the door on mine. :(

PK!

Bottom hinge is snapped on mine too. Need to think of a good idea to fix it.

Should be seeing some Dremel action tonight on the side panel. I'll post pics when I can.

OK, the cutting has been done.

Couldn't find the cutting bit for the Dremel so used a jigsaw with a steel cutting blade.

After drilling an entry hole and beginning to cut the jigsaw burned out. Bloody thing has only been used once before.

Out came the old jigsaw which did the trick all the way around.

Pics tomorrow as I went straight to the pub after cutting.

Had to take pics with phone and left my bloody data cable at work.

Will post pics tomorrow, got it filed down now.

Won't look too bad with some gromit strip around it.

Haha, constantly having reasons and problems for delaying the photos :p

What have you cut out then? The side window? Any other mods so far?

They are genuine reasons, could wake my mother up and get her camera now if your that desperate to see it hehe :P

I've cut out part of the side panel yes, should be sanding and base coating this weekend, might start to main coats if I get chance.

I'll upload the photo's when I get to work in the morning unless Photobucket is blocked.

Ok, you can stop whining now here are the photo's of the side panel cut.

Some of the edges aren't exactly bang on straight but having filed it down a bit and with the gromit strip going on it won't really be noticeable.

Looking at the photos, it actually looks a lot worse than it actually is
