Project: Pink Chieftec

It looks like you're spraying quite close, hence the uneven finish.

Start at around 30cm away and do light coats on the larger surface areas and move no closer than 15cm if its not covering too well. Literally just two passes tops then leave for 15 mins then do the same again. Eventually it'll build up into a nice flat layer of paint. It's not that difficult, just a little time consuming.

Thanks for the advice Dup.

I was spraying a little close I guess, didn't feel like it was covering at all from that far away but I'll definitely do it like that next time.

I'm hoping to spend all this weekend on it and get it looking as best I can.

Plan is to sand it down as much as I can and give it 2-3 under coats of white, I suppose as I'll be spraying pink and pink showing through the base coat (if any) won't really make a difference.

What should I use to protect the paint after I get it how I want it?

do a undercoat first wet flat lightly. then like others say spray in light layers building up a good finish. each layer do a little wet flat with some fine wet sand paper.

when done can of laquer to finish.

been looking for one these cases to do myself but unless local they normal want at least 20 to post em :(

That Chieftec case looks identical to the grey Antec 1080 AMG I used to have! My brother had one too, perhaps it was the same chassis and Antec just rebadged it?

Nice project so far, thought you might be going for a more pastel shade of pink than that neon one, though, if it's for a bird. Having said that, neon is "in" at the moment (if you're a teenager, lol).

It's a bit less bright in real life, think the exposure is a little too high on the camera phone.

She is a teen for another month so I suppose it counts :p

I would probably have done it a totally different colour if her case wasn't so cheap (Akasa Zen) and she didn't need a new one. Plus it does give me something to practice on should I ever do something a bit more extravagant.
