Build Post 25

Hi all got a lot done in the past few weeks mostly boring cable tidying and braiding (even though looking through the photos I don't seem to have done much!)
The stand
Finally some information about the stand this has been dragging on for weeks but now I'm finally happy with it. So I started off with 2 solid aluminium rods then milled the ends to sit flush with the pipe tubes that you can see in previous posts. along the length of the rods I milled flat areas so I can attach rubber feet.
Using some steel wire I managed to get the items together in a flimsy way. But the frame is far too big so desided to trim down the bars and re-bend the pipes to suit.
There we go more suitable size.
After bolting the two lower bars to the pipe frame it became apparent that the top was still too flimsy to support the case in a stable way. So I had to cut a short rod and bolt it to the handle end of the stand.
But after all that hassle with the aluminium tube and the re-bending there was a few dents and allso not perfectly in line this wasent that visible with the photos but once the cannon is onto it would be leaning to one side
. So decided to get them remade . And big thanks for a mates brother Alan (cheers!) he got me theses tubes remade in steel tube, now much stronger It will take any knocks and not dent unlike the thin aluminium. A Quick Clean up with a brass brush on the angle grinder is all they needed and redrilling.
All together but still clamped to the bench as it barely fitted it on. also some spare strips of rubber (theses will be replace with much better rubber) just placed on as you can imagine what the next few images are going to be!
The first real case image. It fits and the lower cooling cell clears the base (just! by about 15mm)
Hehe couldn't resist starting up some of the electronics to see them in action. And really supprised with the internal fans. even with the hard drives blocking most of the airflow and most of the panels missing there's still very good airflow inside.
I allso started up the TEC chillers and see how low they would go yep that's 2.4 degrees but I think the thermometer is slightly out because both water blocks had ice forming on them. Don't worry going to have them sealed in rubber. Now I'm not claiming I will get to that temp when the pc is on that was just a test without any liquid in the system and no items generating any heat.
I then took the case off to move the front bars inwards to give a little bit extra clearance on the cooling tower.and to get the stand on a more stable table.
It's tricky to see be theses two bars were slowly separating due to the weight causing the case to drop. I didn't really want to put any more support bars in but I don't think I have a chose in this case. The clamp is just there to get it in the final position.
So I cut another Short bar and attached it to the stand. The notch in it is to prevent it from coliding with the forward grip on the case. Hopefully I will get the whole stand powder coated soon.
Really should have done it with a hack saw but sometimes power tools really want to be used.
Some parts arriving from Monsoon Cheers!
This slot is for all the sata data cables (not for the attacehd motherboard the final one that is going on)
On the Pump I decided to cover the rubber mounts as the bright yellow doesn't suit this build. also repainted the covers
Finally Fixed the Motherboard Card Support frame to the motherboard tray with a few bolts.
Milled the back of the upper Lighting strip (more photos in previous post) so I could thread a cable tie to secure the cable as the adhesive was starting to peel away from the extra stain on the cable end.
Various cables had braiding attached. Some as individual and some as groups as there is a huge amount of cabling in this case! most of them came with the PSU but all the ones that did had to be adjusted in length to suit the distances evolved some only shorted less then 100mm.
The motherboard cable I have been dreading as I will have to braid this individually and also attached a standby power lead to the aquacomputer controller. Hopefully will get a finished shot of this in the next post)
Then I did a test fit with the final motherboard and it fits! well sort of there was a extra power connector at the very bottom that just hasn't got the room So I will have to attach a right angle Molex connector to get his to fit correctly.
With the case done I thought you guys may enjoy some nice photos of the case. well still have a lot of cables hanging out and panels missing but you get the idea
Hope you enjoyed it see you next time.
