Project Princess - Super Budget Build

Did you paint that fan?

With the dreamspark make sure to install Windows 8 pro if your dreamspark key is for 8 and 8.1 pro for an 8.1 key. They straight up don't work for anything else.

It should also work on a new iso of Windows 10 pro.

Yep, fan's had a coat of pink :)

I've got the right version installed (triple checked it when I was downloading it) but it's just being a pain at the moment and refusing to activate. I might re-try it again tomorrow unless work have got a spare W7 licence laying around!

I've recently done a clean install of Windows 10 Pro and used a Windows 7 Pro license key (legally, of course) to install it. Seems to have accepted it and activated without issue...so it could be a good free way round the problem.

Incidentally, you've given me visions of things to come - albeit blue instead of pink! Nice job though. Always difficult to stick to an appropriate budget when you just want to 'do it properly' too.

Thanks for the answer.

The reason I mention the dreamspark thing is cause my keys have been flawless. I must have used the 8.1 key I have on half a dozen PC's without any issue.

Cyanide,

You need to get a shot of your daughter's expression when you unveil the finished product.

It's a great build log to have followed and the overall set up. I keep expecting to see Princess Peach from Mario to show up in one of your shots ;)

Good job mate!

im upgrading my 2500k next month, and even though my daughter is only one, im going to start to build her one ready! great idea!

Just showed the mrs and she has sanctioned me to do one like this, looking forward to it, just i wont be able to do a log with her as shes too little!

so this is a thank you for the idea, as "project Lexi-Grace" is about to commence!

Shes not even 2 yet but the amount of intrigue and the way she can start to use an iPad is amazing to me. Also I caught her with my corsair lapdog from under my sofa pretending to use the mouse and she was typing away nicely!

I have just got a super super cheap e6600, gigabyte motherboard and a 550ti to get it going. I'll be adding my spare 240gb SSD and have a psu and 4gb of ddr2 ram. So far I haven't even spent £30 yet and only need a case to get it going. Thinking of the bitfenix prodigy in white/pink unless I can find a pink one already as my spraying skills are not the best!

So thank you for this idea and look out for "project Lexi-Grace"
