Hi

The latest version of the BF2 mod has just been released. PR, as the name suggests, aims for a very real style of gameplay and teamwork. This makes it far too slow and complicated for many but for those that like it like that it's a real rush when your squad work and communicate together effectively (mic use is highly recommended and very common). A massive part of the game design is focused on encouring/rewarding teamwork.

It's got lots of maps, some really huge maps with long viewing distance. Also many different classes, weapons, vehicles, planes, choppers. I could go on but check the site below for everything you need to know. I would say that the right server and a good squad make a big difference, otherwise it's a lonley and frustrating experience.

I haven't played for ages but definely getting back in for some sessions.

I had a quick try of this last night, after just installing bf2 again for the first time in over a year. It looks like it could be good, but even on 64 player servers i found there was just too little action. People camped so much that few people ever died, and few ever got kills, the game just went on and on like that. Not mention spawning at a base then having to wait 5 min for a vehicle to spawn, or spend 5 min walking to the combat.

Perhaps I'll try this - I attempted to go back to BF2 a while back but at that point it wouldn't run on 8800 series cards...Hopefully it'll be okay with a 4870.

Would love to try this but i cant find my case with the serial in it! anyone know if theres a way to get a replacement serial from EA or am i going to ahve to shell out for a new copy?

Well it doesn't sound like you were in a good squad and that is essential if you are to enjoy this game, this is no BF2 instant action game.

Runs like a dream on my 8800GTS.

Well this brings back memories from... years back!

I've just dusted off my copy of BF2 (looks a little worse for wear) and downloading this mod now, I loved it back in the day so hopefully it's even better now. :D

would love to try this out but i had problems with bf2 when i installed it other day ,bf2 was just lagging badly, then when i installed this it would just crash to desktop after loading sign would come up :(

... it'll be like Ross Kemp in Afghanistan.

Check page 200 of the High Res screens thread, I posted a few from the latest version there ;)

There is a Sangin map coming out in possibly the next version which is where Ross Kemp was for his filming, the map is shaping up very nicely indeed.

If you're one of the 5 people in the country who don't own BF2 yet, I can see the complete collection online for £5.89, probably worth it for this alone :)

I bought BF2 about a week ago. I still suck hard but i got this mod anyway. I think im a bit out of my league.

...am I missing something here, I downloaded the core installation of 1.85GB, installed it, but when I try and enter a game online there aren't any servers.

If I try and start my owner locally I have no maps?

Do I have download the client 'levels' as well, another 1.45GB?

There's enough people playing it, but this won't be everyones cup of tea and it's not the easiest of games to get into straight away and being in a good squad is essential, you can't solo in this game.

I've just reinstalled bf3 and downloaded the PR client + map packs, but it will not run for me at all. Getting an error on startup.

Am I missing something? I am using the PR shortcut to launch the game if that makes a difference.

Cheers
