I got bored of the noise my fatality cpu fan was making and I really wanted a nice and silent 4gig machine. After a couple of quick measurements of my current akasa see thru case I placed an order for some nice shiny watercooling bits!

Anyway, I put together a test loop and leak tested it for 24 hours. By that time I'd finished modding the case and after 8 hours of sweating and swearing here's what I've got so far:

It's not quite finished yet and I've still to buy a grill for the fans at the top. The components are mostly xspc stuff with some fesser one UVacidgreen thrown in the mix. The fans are 2x120mm Xilence fans @ 7v and 2x80mm Akasa fans @ 7v too.

Specs of Pc are:

Intel E8200
Abit IP35pro
2gig Ocz PC8000
Corsair 620watt Psu
BFG 8800gts 320mb

Gonna leave it on overnight and try overclocking it in the morning. Wish me luck!

I'd say it was more soothing than distracting. I'm impressed with the total silence of the pump aswell, being housed inside the reservoir seems to dampen the noise somewhat. However, now the loudest thing in my computer is my 8800gts. I don't particularly want to watercool that just now as I'd rather watercool an 8800gtx or I might see how the next gen perform.

Nice 'toxic worm' loop you have their and a solid 4Ghz OC too (details in MM)

Some details for the boys and girls here would be nice :)

And keep us posted with the new chip

Will post up some more details tonight (what extra do you want shadowscotland?) but I'm leaving it running othros for a while with some tightened timings and voltage whilst I pack as I'm moving house on Wednesday :(

I really need to update the bios, but in packing for the move I can't find my spare usb pen with the boot partition on it! At the moment temps are stuck at a constant 50 degrees stock and load! Even at stock and at 4gig the temps are at a constant 50 degrees!

That's not right...
But don't worry about us - you'll have plenty to do with the move.

When your all set, just update the thread with what been happening / tips on moving a watercool pc :D

Will do! Moving is a real pain in the backside; been on the phone all day cancelling direct debits and organising cleaners etc. Off now to pick up some more boxes. Will update later tonight.

thanks again

If you don't mind me asking, exactly what parts did you use and just how quiet do you rate them? I hate system noise, and am looking at maybe going down this route. The only thing puts me off is some watercooling setups are just as loud as their aircooling counterparts.

Almost packed. Totally knackered tho, living in a top floor flat is a real pain when it comes to moving!

Good news and bad news; good news is my temp problems are fixed! - Abit uguru works for the first time with a cpu temp of 26 degrees and 24 ambient.

Bad news; for some mad reason when I flashed the bios and rebooted I got a memory C1 memory error. I replaced the memory with some spare pc5400 stuff and it boots fine! I reflashed back and it works fine with the old bios but not with the new. I tried setting the ddr voltage and timming manually according to their specs but it still wouldn't boot. Any thoughts or should I post this elsewhere?

Anyway, thanks for all the comments guys, and as requested here is a component list, cost me £130 delivered for all the watercooling gear and the case was only £40.

XSPC Dual 750 Bay Reservoir Pump - Clear
Feser One Coolant 1ltr (UV Acid Green)
Xilence Pro Fan 120L 1400RPM 120mm - LED Blue
PVC Hose Clip 1/2" (10 Pack)
XSPC RS240 UV Blue
XSPC X2O Delta CPU Waterblock
1/2" Clear High Flex Hose (XSPC)
PrimoChill Anti-Kink Coils 3/4"- UV Blue

When I first turned it on the Xilence fans were the loudest things, but I've 7 volted them and now the loudest thing is the 8800gts which will be getting replaced soon. However with a quieter case other things like hard disks start to annoy you even more :p

I had a previous watercooling setup a few years back with a northwood @ 4gig using an eheim pump and fill port instead of a reservoir. This current solution is much quieter, the only way I know the pump is running is the moving water in the reservoir. :D
