Hi all,

What would be the easiest way to make a test rig? The idea I have would to buy a cheap pc from a well known business that sells them for £300 ish then upgrade on that? I want to be able to change things really quick, take out motherboard, hdds etc and do backup’s of peoples hard disks for formatting etc? How would I go about this as ive never done it before (not needed to) any info would be handy indeed.

As in a proper workbench type thing? What sort of uses would you be putting it to e.g. a business or pleasure? Would it be set up permanantly and how much space do you have to set it up in?

If it is for a business then you will possibly need a beefier PSU for customers parts. If for pleasure/occasional work then your scheme would probably be fine but if it is a regular thing most businesses have a motherboard fixed on an anti-static mat with PSU connected and some form of standoffs instead of the blanking plates to support PCI cards.

Well at the moment I have an attic with nothing in it what so ever I was thinking of using that. As it stands im going to need to get a work bench etc, and new gear to use. All I have is an old 152 CRT and a really bad computer case with hardly any vents. Might get a shopping list going here, as some people have good workshops, This is for business + pleasure :D
