I had to do this for a bit at the end of my placement and if I can give you once peice of advice, it would be:

You DO not want to do this in a small, lightweight, crude car. 120 miles a day is a lot of time in the car, too long for a Citroen AX.

Cavalier or Mondeo TD is the way forward, or Xantia, 405, 406, etc etc.

I dont understand comments like this.. why exacly? does the high revving engine deafen you over long distance ?

Partly, although with the AX in question being a diesel more down to lack of power.

Larger cars are designed with longer journeys in mind, and thus are better suited to it.

The engine is loud and close to the driver, the ride is harsh and bumpy the cabin is uncomfortable tbh on a motors forum this should be common sense

I didn't really understand it either, until recently.

I had to borrow my mothers Honda Jazz for a relatively short trip and even at low revs, it was much noisier than my 530d. Then couple that with the extra windnoise and tyre noise, and it was just a very noisey place to be. I can only imagine a Citroen AX to be miles worse. Once you get used to a comfort and noise level, it's very hard to go back.

thats crap service if you have to wait 2 hours, i've been unlucky enough to have to use mine twice in the last year and the first time it was around 20 minutes, the second time it was 9 minutes.

jack in my clio was under the bonnet in a compartment lol , perfect "stashing" place to be fair

I saw an episode of Road Wars where they helped out someone in a clio with a puncture, they couldn't find the jack, and actually recommended that the owner went and bought one to keep with the spare tyre. They used the jack from the cop car.

It was the same bloke who in one of the other episodes, looked under the bonnet of a broken cinquecento, and said: "Cam belt's gone." Classic telly.
