Hi everyone :D Christmas has come, and I'm starting a project! I'm not sure on its name yet so don't be trollin' the title ;)

Last christmas I built an air-cooled rig with a Lancool Dragonlord K62, and it has served me great! It's still going strong, so I'm going to wait a further year until I upgrade hardware...I still wanted to do something PC related, so I thought of watercooling (first time for me!) to get the maximum overclocking potential out of my CPU and GPU.

I thought I'd also refresh the looks of the case, spray painting the case white and having different coloured shapes (black/red) using stencils. I am using a red/white oriental theme (with the case being 'Dragonlord' and the case being a Lian Li.

Here is the spec of the PC:

AMD Phenom II X4 940 Quad Core Processor
Asus M3A79-T Deluxe Motherboard
Kingston HyperX 4GB 1066MHz RAM 5-5-5-15 (CAS Latency)
ATi Radeon Powercolor 5850 1GB DirectX11
Samsung PB22-J 64GB SSD
Noctua NH-UP12 CPU cooler
2x Noctua NF-P12 120mm Fans
Lancool (Lian Li) Dragonlord PC K62
Corsair TX650W Power Supply
Vantec Nexus NXP-301 Fan and Light Controller
Red Cathodes + Blue LED 140mm Lian Li Case fans

This is what the rig looked like last year xmas:

These are the watercooling components I shall be using:

Pump: XSPC Laing DDC Light Clear 12V
Radiator: Hardware Labs Black Ice Stealth 280
CPU Block: EK-Supreme LT AMD - Plexi (754/939/AM2+/AM3)
GPU Block: EK-FC5850 5850 CF - Plexi
Coolant: Thermochill EC6 Non Conductive UV Coolant - Red
Reservoir: XSPC Single Bay Reservoir
Fittings: 1/2" Chrome Barbs
3x White LED 140mm Fans
2x UV Cathodes

(Same spec as Guitarman0, bit of a competition ;))

So, I set off designing a template in Techsoft 2D Design to design my case stencils on so they were the correct size...took a while, when radii and angles of the window had to be considered!

Once the stencils were done (I don't have any further pics, they are on my hard drive!), I had them laser cut in card:

So this is how they came out...they need to be seperated of course! The symbol is Japanese for 'fire'.

Then I just had a play around with the cut-outs of the stencils to give me an idea of how it will come out:

So then I stripped down the case - needs a brush down!

Took the front bezel off the CD drive too for spray painting white too:

Finally, I have all the panels that receive a white coat in the next few days!

Going to be quite a time consuming project, and I hope it's worthwhile in the end!

Look out very soon for updates!

Looks good - only thing I'd suggest would be changing the fluid to de-ionised/distilled water and a silver kill coil, rather than any 'coolant', which tend to separate and clog up your blocks. Then just use red tubing - much easier, and cheaper (de-ionised water is about 70p per litre at Wilkinsons)

The Ec6 is actaully pretty nice coolant in my opinion... and cheap(ish)

Hey...quick update! Just got in from coating everything in white primer. It was my first time spray painting, so I have learnt some things! I prepared the plastic/steel with 80 grit and then removed any bits of surface residue with white spirit.

Leaving over night to dry. Tomorrow I'm getting all the watercooling gear, so after that's all prepped I will sand out all the primer imperfections and then spray white!

The hard drrive case is simply held in by 3 screws (2 very small black ones on the case underside, and a larger silver screw at the bottom of the 5.25" drive bay enclosure. They are easy to get out, but when taking it out, be very careful because the cage is scarily flimsy!

As for paint, I tested a small bit of paint on the primer and it comes out a lovely smooth glossy white - and that's just Halford's car paint!

Cheers for that :). Gd luck with the build.

Quick update...got all watercooling gear!

Except for this very annoying blunder from a well-known competitor! (Would have bought from OcUK but there weren't enoug in stock). May be able to get my remaining 9 barbs shipped on monday...
