Hi guys, I’m not the most savvy when it comes to interconnects and the like and need some help.

I bought an infocus x9 the other week for my flat, I’m going to be using it for the360 and watching movies on the pc, and I’m wondering the best way to get audio through my amp and speakers for both devices. I currently have a Cambridge audio A1 mk3 which I have had for years but still does the job along with a couple of Mission 700 series speakers.

The x9 has the following connections at the rear

If I was to replace my amp with a new AV receiver would that allow me to run the HDMI cable into it and then from that into the 360 and the PC? Would that also cover the audio side of things too?
Sorry for all the q’s but any help or suggestions would be appreciated.
Cheers.

HDMI would carry the sound as well as the video (assuming your xbox has a hdmi conenctor on it). I lost track of where PC's were with regards to HDMI audio and video??

If your PC could send audio and video over HDMI then a new AV reciever that had HDMI switching would do the job nicely, plus you'd only have a single cable going to your PJ.

alternatively you could probably keep the setup you have and just connect the PC via HDMI and the 360 via VGA (or vice versa, which ever your happier with) to the PJ, then just use the L and R connectors from the 360 to one input on your amp, and run a 3.5mm stereo jack from the line out of your PC to the amp also

Sorry should have said, in my htpc i have a Radeon 4550 which can do 7.1 over hdmi. I like the idea of minimum cabling but how much am I looking at for a decent receiver? Could do maybe £200, £300 at a push.

Cheers for the offer Mark, very kind of you, but I think im going to go the receiver route as I will most likely be getting a 5.1 setup over the coming months. Now the question is what receiver to go for, either the Sony STR-DH800 or the Yamaha RXV465BL, will probsbly go for the Jamo A102HCS5 5.1 speaker package.
