You need a very flat wall or a screen as they show up any bump but in a smallish room I wouldn't have anything else as I don't want the noise right above my head. Sadly they usually cost a lot more.
Most ALR screens only work if the projector is below it, something to be aware of if you were thinking you might mount it higher up. My UST is on a wall mount near the ceiling so basically "ceiling" mounted.
Yeah I've read different things about ALR upside down. Something to do with the whole point being to block light from above.
My UST is on a white wall. I'm happy with it even if I could spend a grand or more to make it better it doesnt need it. I'd love to be able to consider non UST when upgrading but the room is only 3.5-4m deep so I don't think it will be an option I take.
