Hey all, in the past two weeks i have recently started going to the gym, as well, im 6ft1 and have a weight of 10.5stone, so very skinny and im wanting to bulk up.

I know all about eating the correct amount of meals aday etc, however with the nature of my job, i can only have three meals aday and this just is not enough when im trying to gain weight, a friend of mine said he has been using this for a while:

http://prolabnlarge.co.uk/default.aspx
http://www.bodybuilding.com/store/pl/large.html
And it has helped him a lot, hes put the weight on he wanted and its definatly helped him, i wondered what you guys thought of this, anybody used it?

I have used N-Large 2, it may be cheap but its utter crap. Didnt gain a single pound. Avoid.

If you can invest in Muscle milk or cytogainer. Some heavy duty products that I swear by.

What is the tastiest muscle milk product Ken? (I'm trying to cut up though - still worth it as a possible MRP?)

Also do you have any site in particular that you'd advise people in the UK to buy it from?

Thanks

Muscle Milk is amazing stuff ;) It is a bit pricey in the UK but expect to pay around 24pounds or so delivered. I tried going with the myprotein as many have suggested but thought a) it was not at all that cheap, and b) it was fairly meh!
You can try monstersupplements or bodyshapers fitness for UK orders. I usually get banana or chocolate malt mmmmmm I usually can't wait til my next shake - so tasty!

I do have a pretty much full tup of maximuscle cyclone next to me, orange flavour, however i just could not swallow it, it tasted like sick :(

its very hard to get the time to do it, i have set meals, breakfast, lunch, tea :\. So i can't really go for the 6 meals aday!

Not having a go as I don't know what you work at but are you sure you aren't just being a bit lazy? Could you prepare 1-2 meals the night before or something?

IIRC he's in the RAF. I guess the meals are provided on base.

The ingredients for n-large are:

Code:
Whey Protein Concentrate
Maltodextrin
Fructose
Cocoa Powder (Dutch Process)
Natural And Artificial Flavors
Lecithin

Or in laymans terms:

Code:
Protein
Sugar
Sugar
Flavouring
Flavouring
Binder

There's absolutely nothing special about it! Whey with oats and cocoa is going to be better (complex vs simple carbs) and cheaper! Add some coconut (milk/oil) for extra fat calories.

Nothing wrong with simple carbs tbh, sometimes you want complex, sometimes you want simple, the important part is the protein, and it has it. If its cheap, its fine, myprotein 4.5kg tub of isolate is £45, or concentrate is £30, oats, honey for when you want a quick sugar burst, oats for when you don't, probably can't do it cheaper than that.

Frankly you're better off dropping some calories off the 3 meals, smaller portions, and buy a huge stack of any protein bar that tastes good to you so you won't get bored of them. Then eat a couple a day between meals. Still probably your two most important whey intakes are going to be post workout, and pre bed.Body does a LOT of its work when asleep so a nice long lasting hit of protein is pretty essential before bed, something slower release with things like fat and milk to make them digest slower is supposed to be best. THen, in general, there isn't anyone that can't be helped by some omega 3 supplementation, just makes almost everything in the body run better.

I got some of the protein bars from myprotein.co.uk for when at uni as my eating habits were erratic to say the least and helped a bit, but they were so dry and bad that I gave up on them after not long, (that was a long time ago now, no idea what the current ones taste like) so just buy a few protein bars from, well, every brand you can find, choose the one you just get on with best. so least upset stomach, tastes best, goes down easily, then find somewhere online to bulk buy them as cheap as possible.

To an extent I agree, simple sugars post workout are very important or if you need a little "boost" a sugar hit will do the job (albeit followed by an awful crash) but to take something like n-large 2 or 3 times a day with the amount of sugar (28g per serving) is "wrong".

Reading more about n-large i've spotting this:

Code:
Serving Size 4 Scoops (152g)
Servings Per Container 11

Directions: Use as a dietary supplement to achieve desired muscular weight gain. Use one serving between meals and at bedtime. This formula is highly concentrated, and due to its potency you may want to consider using 1/2 serving two or three times per day.

So there's about a weeks supply at 1/2 servings and 3 days with full servings?!? Unless this is £5 a tub you're mad to even consider it!

OK protein bars are convenient, nicely packaged and a bit of a treat but if you put some whey, oats, cocoa etc in plastic freezer bags in a shaker you can carry several servings very easily. All you need is some water and 10sec to mix it and you're away :) I'll happily sacrifice convenience for having control over my intake and ingredients.

lol either or (but mine tastes delicious :D)
How about oats for breakie then 45mins later - cytogainer!

Muscle milk and cytogainer. Contains everything you need and it's dirt cheap.

$30 will get me 7lbs and it lasts a month using 3 servings a day.

The boditronics mass attack is supposed to be quite good and was recently on sale over at monstersupplements for 17.99 :D
