Prom Clothes?

Fashion is subjective, what's your point?

Fat ties make you look like an old man, that's all.

I think it depends on the circamstances dont you? I'd never wear a skinny tie, but i can imagine a situation where it would fit in more than a normal one, at the same time id never go to a business meeting wearing a tie that looks like something Pete Doherty would put on.

Well in business cases you'd probably want to wear a medium width tie so as to avoid people's personal opinions about fashion etc. But in this case, because it's not a really formal event, it's probably acceptable to be a bit more flamboyant if you so wish with your choice of shirts and tie...

Do you really want to look like this? ;)

I don't like wearing bow ties, if you want to tone down the formality, just wear a stylish plain regular tie.

Depends on whether everyone going is an emo or a silly indy kid. If they all fall into these 'categories' then I'd suggest that you don't go in a tux unless you're like so totally non-conformist.

Wear smart casual and see what happens :)
Skinny tie is a LOSE (imo) and so are 'connies'. Wearing either of these in smart casual is not smart or casual. It is indy or emo ghey.

Get a date first then just wear what you'd normally wear when told smart casual. For me it's shoes (not trainers, white chavvers, connies etc) nice jeans, polo and a jacket if it's cold out.

but. Please, please please please please don't wear a cardigan as well as skinny tie and connies.

That is all.

And kill the pic above makunouchi with a colossal squid :D

They're worn by people who practise self-castration with girls' jeans. Low quality and uncomfortable.

Agreed. You speak sense.

All those going to Reading/Leeds make sure you remove indy crowd surfers 'connies' and hurl them as far away as possible muahaha.

I'll let you wear a skinny tie if it's with a modern cut suit (this is what you should be wearing)

If you want to wear it with tight jeans and a cardigan then your a lost soul....no seriosuly you really are.

Yes, but fashionable folk nowadays look like inbred burn victims with their skin tight jeans, skinny ties and £5 fedora hats.

What is fashionable does not necessarily look good. Talk a walk outside and look at all the fashionable boys wearing their 13 year old sister's jeans and negro bling bling style hooded tops.

Agreed, assuming of course that it is a formal event.

Couldn't agree any more.

Avoid huge tie knots too. Combine that with a pink tie and you'll look like you came straight out of a Phones4u shop.
