I think if the acronym forms a phonetically-speakable word (ie NASA, ISO, NATO, AIDS) it's usually spoken, but if it doesn't (ie DNA, PHP, BBC, ITV, USA) then it can't/won't be. That's why ISO's a funny one!
You could equally say how do you say AIDS

Like i pointed out..3 letters....it tends to be spelled out.
Always bugs me somewhat with ISO as it short for International Organization for Standardization, so surely it should be IOS ?
Or OIN for aour continental cousins, from Organisation internationale de normalisation.
Really ISO does not exist.
Anyway I say them as

ISO is an acronym, so I say the letters out loud.
That's a non-sequitur. Besides, it's not an acronym; it's derived from the Greek isos, meaning "the same" (hence the use of "iso" as a prefix: isotropic, isosceles, isotope, isometric, etc.).
