I can understand this. To many this would appear overpriced, not worth the money etc but to many who adore the car, or collectors of older classic cars this is now almost priceless.
I collect, even build 1/24 scale models in my spare time, I spend a lot of money at times on my hobby. I've been known to invest hundreds into something only the size of my hand, and whilst many would laugh at this, it's what I do with my disposable income. I just love cars, and so collect them in scale form, as I stand no chance of buying them for real. The car is in pristine condition, the history is very good and this to many is well worth every penny. I do actually like the car, and I've got models of the same car.
The Revell VW Corrado is actually a 1/24 scale model I've seen pass around for hundreds, yet when first released only cost a few pounds.. VW's seem to attract good money if they are classics or a collectors item... Not trying to compare a classic car with a little scale model, but it's all the same. Something is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it.. And in this case, many are prepared to spend a lot on a classic and very nice Mk1 Golf GTi...
It is VERY nice though. I'd pay it if I was a collector of full size classic cars, and I could afford it.
