Proper Trench Game

It wouldnt be one hole or whatever, it would be a huge trench, stemming into different bits like the medic station, munitions bit etc. Trenches usually varied when it came to luxury, some where even one kilometres long. I guess the front line would look something like this.

It would be like round based, so when most of the other team died out,(machine gunned etc) you would go over the top.

What about like having those old spotter planes? Someone could get in them and reveal enemy positions! Or just fly it into them! lol, kamikaze. Man can only dream...

Check out - www.1944d-day.com granted it isn't out yet and doesn;t solely use trench warfare but it simulates the whole war as a whole, looks pretty promising

Is it me or does that game seem really really ambitious? I'm not saying that's necessarily a bad thing, we need the games industry to keep pushing with ideas, but 250 thousand AI controlled units over a virtual France? My rig struggles when I have more than a handful of bots on CS:S

This is going to come with HDR, moving grass and tress (which I assume won't be represented by sprites :p)

We're going to need next next gen hardware just to run it!

Sounds just like WW2Online. I remember when that was in development in 2000, they said how fantastic it would be and all the features that would be included. When it was released it was full of bugs and it didn't work quite like they said it would. I haven't played WWIIO for about a year so I've no idea what it's like now, but if 1944d-day is going to be anything similar in size AND have 250,000 AI controlled units with fantastic graphics, you're certainly going to need one hell of a PC to run it!

Can't see anything which says how far they are in to development. They say it will be released when it's finished, but can anyone see any hint of whether that will be 2007, 08 or 09??

You can do almost anything in this game but poop aparently :p

I cant wait for it TBH and it will be worth getting a new computer just to play it :D

The units can even throw up after killing there first thew people if they ahve weak stomachs.
Ive read a lot about this game now and it seems pretty orgazmic :D

Ive seen one post hinted at release in 2007 i think :)

Need more variety in games singleplayer.

Call of Duty 2 was a good game yeah, but it would be good if you could play as the axis on singleplayer, d-day etc and have an objective of say kill this many troops before they reach the point etc.

Same for games like ghost recon, even though its good playing as the ghost teams, why not have a campaign as the rebels?

Honestly Rockstar seem to be the only company out there with the balls to create a game and not care about stupid crap. For instance, Manhunt, that game was fun I completed it like 6 times. Its a change.

Paradox also had the right idea with Thrill Kill, which I bet none of you have played, but the game is very good put it that way, probly the best fighting game, maybe even better then Tekken.

Unfortunatly EA came along and bought them out, then scrapped the game. Now EA makes games without any blood. Godfather didn't have much blood. Another thing, Black, great game no blood its like shooting metal all of the time. EA don't seem to make their games that are supposed to be VIOLENT, violent.

I don't see the problem though, if Rockstar can do it then I don't see what other companies are afriad of? its not like EA have a rep to worry about anyway, they destroyed that a long time ago, and the only other things that makes them not create such games is to either avoid bad publicity or maximize profits with the 15 rating, the lower the rating the better they think. Not like anyone under 18 can't get an 18 rated game  .
