I'm thinking that mining has become so popular now with all the new threads popping up in this forum it would be nice to have its own forum under Distributed Computing, calling it something like ' Crypto Currency Mining' keeping it separate from the "Team OcUK Distributed Computing Projects". There don't seem to be any Mods attributed with looking after this place any more so I don't know how we'd go about it but wondered what other peoples views were?

Definitely a good idea haluc, I was quite involved with f@h a couple of years ago.

I feel team Ocuk distributed computing should be left for the likes of folding@home et Al. They are here for a good cause and I think they have taken a bit of a back seat to mining at the moment and it would be sad to see people forgetting about rye noble causes and work that DC projects contribute to.

Is anyone in support of a post count that you would need to access the new "mining" section, similar to MM?

So that people don't just start coming over here for the mining?

I don't understand what exactly they'd get out of "coming here for the mining". The Members Market is a tool that allows people to buy and sell goods at usually very attractive prices.

Having a forum about mining would simply be a load of miners talking about mining.

As someone who came here primarily for the mining forum, I'd just like to say that I prefer smaller communities like this one to the larger ones. I can come here and have an intelligent discussion without any of the drama, false information and "trolling" found on the larger communities.

I contribute what I can, when I can and I'm also considering buying my products from ocUK from now on, a step I don't take lightly having been an avid customer of a rival supplier for the last 8 years.

I see your point, but I think you might be losing out on some valuable contributors both to this community, and in my case, even ocUK.

+1

I feel now that mining has completely taken over this forum, with the mining thread constantly being bumped to the top.

You will not regret becoming a customer of OcUK. I swapped over having previously bought all my components from Bolton but was impressed at just how personal the OcUK service is.

Welcome to the forum :)

Edit: You aren't even that new here but welcome anyway :p

Thanks :)

I joined ages ago when I had some issues with multi monitors on an HD6950, issues which have transferred over to my GTX 770 but I've given up on it and my PC is hardly used for anything other than gaming anyway so I might just sell the third monitor.

*Redacted* is where I buy all my kit too, but I see nothing but positive feedback on here about ocUK so I'm probably going to set up an account and move here permanently.

Thanks for the warm welcome!

You guys might want to remove that competitor name before a mod comes along and gives you a slap.

OCUK have some of the best customer service I have come across of anywhere I have bought anything from.

That coupled with their strong pricing, free next day delivery for loyal forum members, and staff who are genuinely enthusiasts etc make for the only place I ever look when I want hardware
