Proposed England Team!?

Copy atpbx, paste.

Although I'd be tempted to swap Carrick with King depending on circumstance (ie. Carrick being the better passer, King being the more defensive), and I'm never quite sure how reliable Brown is, even with Rio there to hold his hand.

----------Robinson-------------
Nev-----Rio--------Terry-----Cashley (if fit)
------------Carrick-----------------
Gerrard----------------------J.Cole
------------Fat Frank---------------
---------Rooney-------------------
-----------------Gay Little Owen---

Rio needs Brown, not the other way around. Since Christmas Brown has been head and shoulders better than any other defender in the PL.

robinson
neville/ferdinand/terry/cole
beckham/lampard/gerrard/cole
owen/rooney

I'm with sven in believing that teams our best. Difference this time around is that we have a superb bench, SWP/carragher/carrick/defoe etc

robinson

neville / terry / rio / a.cole

beckham / gerrard / j.cole / downing

bent / rooney

would obviously have to pick owen if hes fit and back on form though :)

we all know what the swede will pick though

Whatever, I suggest you get yourself to Old Trafford and actually watch him then.

Terry was abysmal for a month, Ferdinand has been abysmal for over a month, Carragher just isn't that good, King has looked shaky. Brown has been as solid as a rock and our stand-out player.

An abysmal Terry is still better than the majority of the defenders in the Premiership and that includes Brown. Only Carragher has played to the same level as Terry this season and only Ferdinand and Campbell can really match them when on their games. I would say Carragher has been Liverpools stand-out player this season and he's playing alongside defenders that have been playing at the top of their game for most of the season. Brown is a good player but he's playing along side Silvestre who's just not very good and Ferdinand who has been underperforming for most of the season so he's hardly going to look poor :)

If Brown was fully fitted or not injured for a long period, he should be better than Rio. At the moment, Terry and Carragher are the best and most reliable defender in the premiership. But I don’t think Sven will put them together as central defenders for England. It may be a bet if he dares to put them together. Rio current form is quite unstable, always lack of concentration, ‘day dream’. Campbell, forget him unless he has recovered from injury.

Anyone who says carragher isnt that good must have been blind for the past 2 years, Terry carragher and ferdiand are streets ahead of brown in every department. except dirtyness brown wins that hands down.

You say Ferdinand can match them, then Brown looks good because he's playing with them? *confused*.

However, Man Utds defensive record stands out, look at our results WITH Brown and our results WITHOUT Brown and you can see how good he is. Carragher hasn't played well this season from the games I've seen (every televised one) so I have to disagree. He had a cracking season last season, but thats it.

Far from 'dirty'. I would say 'no-nonsense' would be more the correct term. Dirtiest 'top' defender this season has been John 'second keeper' Terry. His pushes, kicks and saves have gone totally unpunished. Saying that, he is no-nonsense too and thats why I like him.

Just remember this in a year or two when you're all slating him.

I remember everyone here saying how Silvestri complimented Rio perfectly and how they were going to be the rock on which future manyoo successes were to be built.

Hmmm.

Remember, form is temporary.

Woah woah woah, who said that? Certainly not me, 6 years of garbage is all we have had from Silvestre, from that he's had 6 months of good play (18 months ago).

Brown, when fit, has always been fantastic for us.

:o Sorry, I didn't explain it very well. I've edited my original post. Hope it makes more sense now :)
