Protect our race circuits from the NIMBYS

Are there any rules about complaining about noise when buying a house in a flight path?

Pretty sure I didn't have to sign anything, but I'm in the outermost zone for Manchester. Airports did provide grants for double glazing and roof repairs. If they change the flight paths to overfly new areas there are grounds to apply for compensation IIRC.

It's not just motorsports.

In my town there were a couple of clubs in the town centre, a way away from any dwellings. Developer built shelter housing for old people next door and they have been trying to shut the clubs down ever since..

Yep townies moving near our shoot complained about noise and windows being struct by shot, the shoot closed a very nice stand :(

A few miles away from my house is a speedway track.

The noise that generates is pretty significant.

but then, I have no issue with other people having fun and if it really bothered me that much, I would go inside my home and put some music on.

This is the difference between a reasonable human being and a jackass.

This does annoy me, people do just love to get very worked up and complain about things.

I'm sure i heard that the reason you hardly ever see the full brands hatch circuit being used is due to noise issues with a housing estate built after the circuit was built?

That's not the only reason, the houses have been there for a long long time in some parts too, they also don't have the tannoy system switch on in the GP loop even if they are using that part of the track. It doesn't meet some safety standards for certain events, that's why the DTM only ran the Indy loop. Quite a few smaller club events still use the layout but there's a 6:30pm curfew.

There is a limit (6 I think) to the number of weekends a year the GP loop at Brands can be used. Some houses back garden fences are the perimeter fence of the track though, so they are pretty close.

However, living in that estate gets you a free season pass to the circuit, which seems like a good thing to me :)

DriftLimits are having noise issues at Bovingdon at the moment. Resident complaint is tyre squeal rather than engine noise.

They've put in sprinkler systems to wet the track and the locals are still trying to shut them down
