Ok, so diet and workout is going fairly well, but am trying to get more protein into my diet....

For the next few weeks though I need something that I can eat high in protein that is fairly easy to eat on the go, as I just want a mid morning snack or something.

For the past week I've been trying peanuts, but I think I need a bit more variation than peanuts constantly... and the other option was Mattesons roast flavoured fridge raiders....

There's got to be something better out there xD

Trying to stay away from supplements etc... and as I'm at work I can't really cook anything, which ruled out eggs :S

Cant you hard boil eggs and take them in a tub/bag?

And is there a reason for staying away from supps? Whey protein is pretty much the cheapest source of protein out there and is extremely handy.

EASIEST way is to buy a pack of MIXED nuts (peanuts certainly aren't the best around) and seperate them in to 25g or 50g servings in little bags.

My favourite way is just to boil up a batch of hard boiled eggs. Really isn't that hard even if you "can't cook" - just boil a saucepan of water and gently lower 6 or 9 eggs in there for what, 8 minutes? Then take them out, let them cool down, then refridgerate until you want to eat them. Hell, I put mine in my laptop bag the night before I go to work :)

Depends on how calorific you want to be. If you really need to watch calories or you're getting too many, a protein shake is a good way of getting a low calorie influx. I never need *just* protein, so always happy to eat some nuts, tinned mackerel in olive oil/tomato sauce, a tin of tuna, some eggs, bits of chicken, or some mince I prepare.

It depends on how organised you are and how much effort you're willing to put in :)

How do you guys get the shells off boiled eggs? I was taking two a day to work for a while but it took so long to pick the bits of shell off that I gave up in the end!

Occasionally it came off in a couple of chunks but for the most part it came away in tiny pieces.

Do you put them in cold water once they are done? I always do and the shells just fall off.

Yeah I pour out the boiling water and replace with cold from the tap, then fridge them about half an hour later.

Sometimes it works, most of the time though it takes me a good few mins to pick the shell off which usually takes half the white with it.

I'm so glad I got rid of the "eating every three hours" mindset and I cannot recommend it enough.

The supplement market thrives off the regular "need" for snacks.

Check out www.leangains.com

For the past 18 months, I moved away from eating 6 small meals to now only eating three meals in the evening (mostly after working out). One of the best things I ever did for food enjoyment and convenience.

At this rate I'll be asking for an entire new diet! Although actually can't start that one until after work and I have less of my mother deciding she wants to decide what I eat - the annoyances of coming home over holidays as a student...

That cake does look quite impressive.

Whey Protein has always been something that I've kind of been unsure of, due to chemical components, but actually doing some research it doesn't look toooo bad. :)

But Hard Boiling Eggs might be an idea. How many would people recommend?

As for peeling it.... just stick your finger in and crack away :) Takes me about 30 seconds to peel an egg...

How many eggs is it 'safe' to eat in a day?

As many as you like, eggs are one of natures most balanced and nutritious foods.

I eat at least 6 most days but often more, have been doing so for years and have never suffered any ill effects, they never seem to raise cholesterol levels either as mine is tested periodically and is always on the low side, but then again cholesterol isn't the enemy to our health that is purported to be.

No cholesterol is actually good for you, along with some saturated fat can boost testosterone - besides if your body is low on cholesterol it'll metabolise it's own, dietary cholesterol is not as big an issue as people think.

Again, everything in balance and moderation.
