Hi,

I've recentley bought (again) server 2003 because I've changed the mainboard and processor in my server, but this time I've got the x64 editon. It will act as a domain controller, file server, print server and will do general bits and bobs but I also now want to run it as a proxy server. I have installed a second network card so that's sorted but I'm a bit stuck for software. I'm after an ISA type solution but without the cost if possible. Any ideas?

Thanks

Ben

What kind of proxying are you wanting to do? Is it basic content filtering or a full featured proxy?

Just firewalling and content filtering and cache really. Nothing too technical- I won't be using it for websites etc :)

Thanks

Wouldn't even need to do that if you wanted Squid, though I've never tried the win32 port myself.

It's not very good for content filtering though in my experience, but if it's just access control and caching it's an excellent solution.

... it would still be the win32 version. cygwin doesn't let you run actual Linux binaries on Windows.
