Hi,
I've just moved into my halls at Plymouth Uni and i'm confused about the proxy server and p2p software. I connect to the university network through a vpn but all torrent traffic is blocked. I have the proxy auto configuration information but that's about it at the moment.

What is there that I can do?

If the ports are blocked, then there's not much you can do. The uni's AUP probably states that you can't use P2P in halls anyway.

Plymouth uni halls is a night mare. When I was there let alone 5 years on.

We managed to successfully use a proxy tunnel. It's about your onley option. As pretty much everything apart from port 80 is blocked. However you can access stuff on the lan. We had a pretty big P2P just on the campus.

We did have to pay to get a proxy tunnel taht worked back tyhen. It was also a pain to set up.

however this is against there rules and several people got there connection pulled.
