I've just setup my slimline Playstation2 in the bedroom, and fancy playing some RPGs.

I know there's Final Fantasy 7-12 on PS1/PS2, I also have Legend of Dragoon which is fantastic. Can you list me some other RPGs that are worth getting and playing.

My brother recommends Suikoden and I'm looking to get that, So from that I'm sure you know graphics arent my concern, I'm just after soom awesome storyline and pure RPG epicness.

I have a game called Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne, And thats a really cool game, Are there any decent english Shin Megami tensei games, Out side of the persona world ofcourse.

So yeah guys, Hook me up with some RPGs, I'm unemployed at the moment, So i have plenty of time to sit around, Bedsores F T W

Good luck with suikoden, if they were released in the UK it was in small quantities and they're very expensive now, most of the PS2 ones were only released in the US. The first two on the PS1 were utterly brilliant games, especially the first.

A couple of good ones that spring to mind would be:

PS1:
Vandal Hearts
Wild Arms
Breath of Fire 3
Front Mission 3

PS2:
Odin Sphere
Front Mission 4
Disgaea
Dark Cloud 2

That's all i can think of now, there are loads more though. I wouldn't be surprised if several of those were as rare as rocking horse poop now

A few more here.

PS1:
Vagrant Story
Grandia

PS2:
Rogue Galaxy
Grandia II
Grandia III

I know theres a lot more but just can't think of them at the moment.

The entire storyline is gothic, the characters even speak in a sort of Shakesperian (sp?) manner, 'doth' this 'hark' that etc. Really works and goes towards making it one of the most memorable RPGs i've ever played. The combat is incredibly deep too, the weapon customisation is the most complex i've bothered learning to date. Keep in mind though you're MEANT to do only 1/2Hp damage per hit against some of the bosses, as you can replay the game as many times as you want, keeping your own equipment, they made it so that some of the bosses have very little HP but stupid amounts of damage resistance. This made it so that certain enemies/bosses remained a challenge even after a couple of playthroughs which i really liked.

haha, Can I play Persona 4 without playing previous ones? Reason I ask is, I like playing a full series of games, And hate the fact Persona 1 is Jap only. Grrr. lol. It put me off playing the other ones (That may be strange to some :P)

Also, Vagrant story, Just had a look at some gameplay vids on Youtube, Looks very similar to The Parasite Eve Battle system, Which is a good thing!

I'll make Vagrant Story my first stop I think, Just had a look at some screen shots, Looks extremely cool and Gothic, Which I love

And if you really want to go geeky about it all, once you played Vagrant Story, perhaps you should try Final Fantasy Tactics (PS1), Final Fantasy XII (PS2), Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings (DS), Final Fantasy Tactics Advance (GBA), Final Fantasy Tactics A2: Grimoire of the Rift (DS) and Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions (PSP remake of the PS1 Tactics).

Your eyes dizzy yet? :p

All of these games are loosely connected to each other as they are set in Yasumi Matsuno's created world of Ivalice or part of the Ivalice Alliance. Very huge backstory and mythology surrounding it all so read up about it if you have the time.

I just thought of another that I cannot believe we totally missed.

Xenogears for the PS1. And then the Xenosaga trilogy on the PS2.

Suikiden.

Its the best rpg i have played simply amzing and the way you meet new group members and they come stay at your castle and set up a shop is amzing!!!

PERSONA 4!!!

Persona 3 and 4 are unrelated so don't worry about having not played the older games I've started with 4, I'd recommend 4 first as it's sposed to be better, I play it for the story and characters which are great. Voice acting is top notch and the game is extremely funny. Some really good writing in there the voice work does it great justice.

Yukiko is so cute too. :D

Gonna buy Persona 3 whenever I get done with 4, now I will make a quick exit to avoid any possible spoilers from anyone else who has been playing it!

...Persona 4 Pimpage...

Margaret, how far are you in?

please say Nanako will sing the Junes song again! Haha makes me laugh so much!

Gonna have a good persona 4 session after lunch. Persona 4 and Dr. Pepper....fantastic combination!!

I guess the best thing to say without spoiling things is that I just got past the bit where you go to camp with the school. :)

Which was HILARIOUS btw, Yosuke makes me laugh. :D

Taking it kind of slow, loving it though. Definitely picking up Persona 3: FES this month. (even though I won't finish 4 for a long time yet!)

aah I'm going really slowly, up to about where Episode 45-50 is on Giantbomb! (i hope that reference makes it a 'non' spoiler!)

Sadly, some of the best playstation rpg's are only available through import because they didn't get a European release. Chrono Trigger, Chrono Cross, the .Hack//GU series 1-3 (seriously underrated rpg, there's also an anime series about the .hack universe), Legend of Mana all spring to mind. These are legendary rpgs.

I'm trying to think of stuff that hasn't already been mentioned.. Alundra is ok, so is Brave Fencer, Legend of Legaia I really liked, Suikoden 5.. can't think on any more.
