Recently ive been wanting to buy a PS2 again just for Gran Turismo 4 as I never got round to playing it. Does anyone still think its worth it?

+ How much would a second hand PS2 set me back nowadays?

Cheers

Personally I don't think it's worth it, I never found it _THAT_ good anyway, I have had more enjoyment from Burnout Revenge and PGR3.

Unless you can get a REALLY good deal on a Playstation 2 I wouldn't go for it if you're only interested in that, however, if you haven't played - Ico, Shadow of the Collosus and God of War then go out and buy one today with all of the above and prepare to have a gaming orgasm.

GT4 is alright not that special. Some nice cars in it but it gets a lil tedious after a while. The stupid endurance races annoy me, and when u speed them up its useful for a few laps until you pit then it goes back to normal speed. Takes hours to get thru them all and so pointless

You should have never had sold the PS2, IMO the GT series are still the best racing games to date. While your at it you should get Metal Gear Solid and re-live pure excellence in programming

Ok PGR3 on live is awesome but thats different :)

I would buy it if you want the most accurate version of the Ring.Apart from that i don't think its any better than the other racers people have mentioned.

I might just give it a miss then.

GT4 was pants, I loved the first 2 and 3 was good, but 4 just left me cold after a couple of weeks, could never quite put my finger on why, buy a PS1 and get GT1! lol. PGR3 which still holds my attention every now and again 4 months on!(when I can tear myself away from oblivion).

I am a driving game fanatic, but I have never got into the GT series. Fantastic graphics but the 'gameplay' (I use the word loosely) seems tagged on as an afterthought. Hopefully Forza 2 (when and if it comes out) will have the graphics realism of GT combined with Forza 1's driver AI.

GT4 is amazing.

at first i got bored at like 50% of the game because of the level of difficulty involved in handling the fastest of cars (700bhp+) around for 10-50 laps and was unable to do it properly, or smoothly enough to even compete in the races.

i did a lot of time trials with some MR cars on seattle etc and greatly improved my ability with the cars and am now quite capable and really enjoy the game!

prolly not worth buying a ps2 for, unless u play RE, pro evo too etc then it may be worth it.

GT4 is a excellent racer if you are the sort of person that likes in depth racing games.

IMO GT4 is well ahead of any other racer on any platform. Although I liked PGR3 I personally felt it lacked the depth of GT4 and so couldn't get into it.

GT4 has one main selling point and thats the variation of cars / tracks which are pretty much unmatched on any console.

It also looks a damn site better than forza and plays better too (please bear in mind I was running forza through my 360 so it may be duff looking because of that_. Plus and this is a small thing it actually has decent menus (which in my opion can make or break a game like this) for example ifyou want to buy a car in GT4 they are seperated by manufacturer and have proper stats. Whereas in something like forza they are all lumped together and just have number ratings 'acceleration - 4'

So to sum up my ramblings if you want a decent racer with a good amount of depth and lots of car/track variations then give gt4 a blast.

acceleration 4
handling 2
topspeed 3

= lame very lame... i want bhp/ weight, and "realistic" feel. forza = arcade, PGR = arcade

According to the Register Sony are prepairing a price cut for the PS2 at the end of april in the states, and i would be surprised if it didnt follow around the world.
Its going to go from $149 to $129.
