I have a samsung 244t monitor, which does have those component inputs. I plugged in my ps2 to it, but the picture that comes is black and white and the white isn't very clear, some grey lines going through it rapidly or something.

Anyone have any ideas as to what's wrong?

Also, since my monitor doesn't have speakers, how would I connect the ps2 to some speakers? I have bose 2.1 speakers.

Not sure about the video, but your ps2 should have come with an adapter for sound. It should have a white and red female inputs on one end which adapt in to a green 3.5mm male jack which you plug in to the green socket on your sub/amp.

thanks :) yea, I was just wondering how to put it in there and the monitor since the wire doesn't really split. But someoine pointed out an extenesion lead, so need to buy that.

Anyone have any idea about the video?

You said you plugged your video in to the "component" input, do you mean "composite"? Component is the Blue, Green and Red connectors, I dont think the ps2 uses those, composite however is the "yellow" connector.

I think it would show as black and white if the monitor doesnt support pal or ntsc? Something like that, but I could be wroing.

<edit> Is there an option where you can set your PS2 to 50hz rather than 60hz? Like in the PS2's settings?

I mean component then. It's got blue green and red connectors. PS2 has the red, white and yellow connectors. I think the yellow one into the green one gives the black and white video. tried it in the other's and it says "Check signal"

I also have composite, and I plugged in the yellow one into that, but that doesn't work either. ''Yea, but as far as I know, monitor's arent affected by things like Pal and NTSC, or are they?

Nope, checked the ps2 settings, no such option. Some games have that option, and I tried it (on Mortal Komabt deception), but still black and white when I selected 60 hhz and 50 hz both.

I'm pretty lost here :( I wouldn't mind spending on a cable if that'l make it work, but unless there's a reason this isn't, don't see much point.

You can get ps2 component lead i think you need to switch settings over for component but as i am waiting to buy a lcd tv i not tryed my leads yet.

No red yellow white are composite(red and white is sound and yellow is video i think) and red green blue are component video
The ps2 component lead has red green blue leads for video and red and white for sound, as i said in my last post i not tryed it yet as i got no tv.

I looked on google a bit as well and I think you're right queamin, I need to buy that component lead for video. thanks a lot :D

Now, about the audio. I can buy that extension lead so I can plug in the speakers to the subwoofer, but the woofer only has one input for a component. That is what is currently connecting it to my pc. I can buy one of those splitter things, but that's just one extra thing. How do I plug in btoh the white and the red connectors into it?

Yes you can but make sure you get the right one as you can buy spliters that go both ways i think, ps2 has got opitical out for sound aswell i use that into my dvd/5in1 amp

They are Bose Companion 3 speakers. (2.1 system)
The remote has an input jack where I can connect something. the subwoofer has one component jack which is what is connecting it to my pc.

Until now, I connected it to a tv with the av lead that came with it. Only have a monitor now, so i'l buy the component one you suggeted earlier. That takes care of the video, just wondering about the audio now.
