Hi, I have a PS2 connected through scart to a widescreen and the image does not fill up the whole screen. I have tried the PS2's dashboard screen size settings but have had no joy.

Is it the case that if I buy a different cable that it'll work? If so, what cable do I need?

Any other solutions?

You could try a component cable. Not sure if it will fill the screen or not but my guess would be it would.

IIRC the PS2 actually outputs the majority of things at 4:3 480i/p, which has a horizontal resolution of 640 (480x640), so it isnt actually widescreen. Your TV is therefore scaling this to its native 16:9 480i/p which is 480x864, and so youre getting black bars to make up for the extra horizontal pixels. Only thing that can be done is play God of War 2 or something that is actually 16:9.

Is 4:3 that much of an issue though? I watch The Royale Family all the time and doesnt really bother me. As above though your tv should have a wide mode or something that will stretch the image, probably wont look too nice though.
